Soil investigation report shall be submitted with recommendation on bearing pressure at weir
and retaining wall site. You are hereby requested to justify the soil bearing capacity
considered.
Consent of the Irrigation Department should be obtained for the structural design including
weir height and hydraulic study.
Recommendation of hydraulic study shall be provided for the weir height of 1.6m.
River flow velocity is assumed as 3.5 m/s. But, flow velocity for log impact has been
considered as 3.0 m/s. Please justify.
You are hereby requested to clarify whether point impact load due to log impact has been
considered in the structural design.
Capacity of anchors shall be provided with specifying anchoring method. The anchor design
shall be get approved before finalizing the design.
Recheck 10 kPa surcharges is enough.
As BS code is followed ɤG = 1.4 and ɤQ= 1.6 shall be considered ( Please be informed that
ɤG = 1.35 and ɤQ= 1.50 is for Euro Code)
For Gabion retaining wall, different load combinations have been considered. Description of
those combinations shall be provided.
Please be informed that, Factor of Safety considered for Gabion retaining wall are marginal.
You are requested to design for safer side.
According to the Civil GA drawing of weir, weir has been designed as rubble filling with 1.0
m interval bracing wall. You are hereby requested to explain , why it is not designed as total
concrete mass.
The gate arrangement (gate arrangement in both ends) provided in the Civil GA & structural
drawing differs from the recommendation ( to provide gate at center) of hydrological study for
flood impact submitted by contractor. If it differed updated recommendation shall be
submitted.
It has been noticed that soil filling has been provided in-between Gabion wall and the retaining
wall connecting the weir. As the soil fill could be eroded in floods, you are hereby requested to
fill it with concrete.
You are hereby requested to explain whether retaining wall and weir connections have been
designed for transferring bending moments.
You are requested to provide energy dissipation (roughening of surface in downstream)
mechanism in the 10. 2 m long concrete surface in downstream.
Even though walkways and columns for gate structure have been provided, the calculation has
not been provided in the report.
Calculation detail for columns and platform has not been submitted.
