a) How far is the ship from its port?

b) Find the bearing of the port from the ship's final position.

5. A rope is stretched tightly around three pegs X, Y and Z, forming a triangle with 5
XY = 9m, YZ = 40m, XZ = 41m.

a) Sketch the triangle XYZ and label it fully.

b) Calculate the angle between the two longer sides.

c) Use this result to (or otherwise) calculate the area of triangle XYZ to the nearest m2.

x and y axes.

4. a) Determine the point of intersection A, of the lines whose equations are 4

3x−2y = 8 and 4x + 7y = 1.

b) Show that the line 5x− 6y= 16 is concurrent with the first two lines.

5. Find whether each of the following lines - 6
