Owing to Childcare Acts and Frameworks, Fordcombe Pre-school Safe Guarding Policy
needs to be updated continuously to keep in line with current procedures. These procedures
are developed with principles from the Early Years Foundation Stage, Department for
Education Guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education and many more.
Due to these continuing modifications, I have acquainted myself with current legislation and
have spoken to my manager which has resulted in us updating Fordcombe Pre-school’s
safeguarding policies.

1. It now states two practitioners must be the designated person for safeguarding.

2. The new phone number for the Specialist Children’s Services has been replaced.

3. Early Help is now evident in the policy including their contact details.

4. Four categories of child abuse have now changed to five to include bullying.

5. Timescale of training has now been amended to two years instead of three as previous
legislation stated.
