1. ODU must be “enabled” on modem.


2. EDMAC sends messages to ODU address. (Modem address +1)
3. Modem passes commands through the FSK link.
4. ODU Serial Port is available at ODU address.

1. If ODU = enable, the ODU will disable the local Serial Interface
for “X” seconds after reception of query Command on FSK link.
If ODU = disable, there is normal Serial Interface service.
2. Modem must set ODU address to RC-address +1 .
3. Modem passes commands through the FSK link.
4. If ODU = disable, any unused address is available.

1. SatMac can use “<0000/SPA=XXXX” to set ODU addresses.


2. Back-Up ODU will respond only to On-Line ODU address +1.
3. Only On-Line ODU will allow configuration changes.
4. On-Line ODU updates Back-Up ODU through dedicated link.
5. SatMac communicates directly with Back-Up ODU for
monitoring information only, no control is possible.

2. Modem uses “<0000/SPA=XXXX” to set ODU addresses. CSAT Back-Up

On-Line ODU = Modem Address +3


Back-Up ODU = Modem Address +4
3. Modem will only allow configuration changes on On-Line ODU .
4. On-Line ODU keeps Back-Up ODU current using dedicated link.
5. Modem gets Status from Back-Up ODU directly over FSK link.
6. ODU disables local Serial Port for “x” seconds after FSK activity is sensed.
Note: When Modem is in the “remote Mode”, all front panel activity is barred, including ODU.

Far End Set-Up:


1. On-Line Modem is always “Master”.
2. EDMAC can only change configuration of On-Line Modem.
3. On-Line Modem will configure Back-Up Modem
4. Back-Up Status sent via SSC through Master to EDMAC.
5. Back-Up Modem never responds directly to EDMAC message.

3. After “Slave Enabled”, Modem stops Modem/ODU polling, Menus locked out.
4. ODU will always delay 1.5 sec. After confirming Frequency Change Command
before changing frequency.
