    The principal of Britain Elementary School informed parents that a music teacher, Edmund Barrera, was arrested by the Irving Police Department. According to police, Mr. Barrera engaged in inappropriate behavior with students over the past few years. The school and district leadership only recently became aware of the allegations and immediately took action. Mr. Barrera has been removed from campus. Parents with additional information or questions are asked to contact the Irving Police Department.

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

    Irving ISD is committed to the safety of our students and expect all staff to adhere to the
    highest ethical practices and conduct.
    Today the Irving Police Department released information involving the arrest of Britain
    Elementary School music teacher Edmund Barrera.

    According to the Irving Police Department, the inappropriate behavior took place over the past
    few years. We do not tolerate behaviors that compromise the safety or well-being of our
    students.

    It is important you know, that Britain Elementary School administration and district leadership
    were made aware of the allegations only recently and took immediate action.

    Mr. Barrera is not on campus.

    Estimados padres/tutores legales,

    Irving ISD está comprometido a la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y es la expectativa que


    todo nuestro personal cumpla con las más altas prácticas y conducta ética.
    Hoy el Departamento de Policía de Irving divulgó información sobre el arresto del maestro de
    música de la Escuela Primaria Britain Edmund Barrera.
    De acuerdo con el Departamento de Policía, el comportamiento inapropiado tomó lugar en los
    últimos años. No toleramos comportamientos que ponen en riesgo la seguridad y bienestar de
    nuestros estudiantes.

    Es importante que usted sepa que la administración de la Escuela Primaria Britain y el liderazgo
    del distrito fueron informados de las alegaciones hasta hace poco y se tomaron medidas
    inmediatas.

    El Sr. Barrera no está en la escuela.
