Circle game

Assessment

Task Procedures:
1. Teacher enters the classroom wearing a baju melayu.
2. Teacher calls all the pupils to the front of the class.
i. “Children, come here.” (point near you)
Classroom management : Teacher says, “Boys and girls”, Boys and girls”
Pupils reply, “ Yes, teacher, Yes, teacher”
Teacher and pupils say together, “Shhh.. Shhh”
( silent sign to get pupils to gather around you silently)

3. Show common picture of common festival in Malaysia i.e Hari Raya


i) “Do you know this festival?”
ii) “Who celebrate Hari Raya?”
iii) “Anyone in this classroom celebrates Hari Raya?”
iv) “How do you wish your friend on Hari Raya?”
4. Ask what other festival do we celebrate?
Show picture festival mentioned by pupils.
5. Repeat for 2 -3 other festivals.
6. Tell pupils to queue up, into 2 queues.
i. “Everybody, stands up”
ii. “Group 1 and 3 make1 line on the right. (point) and you will become group
A.
iii. “Group 2 and 4 make 1 line here on the left.(point) and you will become
group B.

7. Tell each groups to form a circle.


i. “Group A form a circle and facing outward”(help them to form circle and
face outward)
ii. “Group B make another circle around Group A. Facing inward.”
8. Explain the Circle Game
i. “When the music is on, Group A will turn clockwise and Group B will turn
clockwise.”
ii. When the music is off, everyone must stop”
iii. Choose 1 pupil from Group A ( eg. Ahmad). Tell that pupil to pick a card in
front of him/her
iv. “pick a card.”
v. Get the pupil in front of Ahmad, in Group B(eg. Bob) Tell Bob to ask.
vi. “What festival do you celebrate?”
vii. Tell Ahmad, “Ahmad you will answer, I celebrate Hari Raya.”
viii. Pupils play Listen and guide them if needed.
ix. After 3 rounds, tell pupils to switch role and rotate.
x. “Now Group A will ask, Group B will answer.”
xi. Repeat 3 rounds. Repeat the above steps for question, “What do you wear
on…”

Managing errors and mistakes:

a. If pupils read the text incorrectly/ poor pronunciation, “chupp” them. Get better
pupils to help them.
b. If pupils response in the first language, acknowledge their answer by saying “
good job” and say out the word/ sentence in English. Encourage pupils to
repeat a few times.

Reward and Feedback


a. Praise pupils when they answer your questions correctly. i.e. “ Well done”
(with two
thumbs up)
b. Get pupils to clap, once they have finished reading the text or playing the
memory cards game.
