SELF INTRODUCTION ESSAY

My name is Kattia Setiyani Widiastuti, 20 years old. In this essay, I am going to tell
you a little bit about my education background, interest, and goals. I am from Bandung, a
gorgeous town in West Java, Indonesia. There I spent the past twelve years of school, first
I studied at St. Melania Elementary School for six years. Then I graduated in 2007 and for
the next three years I studied at 14 Junior High School and I continued my study at 1 Senior
High School. I finished my school years in 2013, then I came to an university at Bandung that
called UNPAD (University of Padjadjaran). Specifically, I took Marine Science Bachelor
Program and I still continued my study until now. I am a fourth grade college student in the
present. My everyday activities included going to school, pray, and be an activist in an
organization called HIMAIKA.
I loved to do some sport like swimming, scubadiving, and hiking. I decided to learn
about marine science because I always fascinated by looking at the ocean and its
beautifulness. Besides that, I also liked drawing. Growing up since a child until now, it has
been my hobby. I am interested in typography too, and I started learning about it.
Sometimes, I liked to do some crafts, and write some article about anything.
The goal of mine after I finished my bachelor study is to take a Magister Program
abroad. I’ve never been studied in other country before, so I need an experience to
accomplished my goal. As a college student, I thought I have considerable opportunity to
participating programs such as exchanges, internships, etc. Therefore, I am writing this
essay intend to explore the possibility as participant of International Exchange Student
Scholarship 2017-2018, Rikkyo University of Japan.
Why I have to do this? Because from the very first time of my study, the professor
told me to spend at least some time abroad, with aim to gain experiences in the foreign
languange, conversation, and also to getting know the culture of the country. I considered
that it was a good idea, so I formed the plan to study abroad, either following the exchanges
program or take the magister program immediately. Why Japan? I am studying Marine
Science in university, and I was read some news aboout marine activity in Japan. Japan is a
country with a high marine activity compared with others. Also, Japan potentially have a
high quality human resources and technology, then I have to learn about it.
I have a good time and stress management, strong sense of responsibility, and
diligent. These are my priority to finish every task even in a complex situation. I also loved
to try new things, expand my social networking by going someplace I’ve never been before.
I have a strong desire to gain the experience, so I am applying this. It is so meaningful that
I have an opportunity to train myself, and I am very delighted if I given this huge occasion.
