DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILIES’ EFFECTS ON STUDENTS

Methodology
The researchers have thought of collecting data from the Science, Technology, and

Engineering Program students of Baguio City National High School year 2017-2018 from grades

8 to 10 since the study focuses on how dysfunctional families affect the academic performance

of students. The researchers chose this program since they are more focused on academics.

The researchers used the random sampling method to obtain a more accurate result that

could be used to represent the entirety of the population. The researchers prepared one hundred

thirty-five (135) questionnaires wherein forty-five (45) questionnaires were given per grade

level, and fifteen (15) questionnaires were distributed per section. The questionnaires were

given and collected at the same time from all nine (9) sections.

The mean and standard deviation were used in analyzing the data to determine the level

of academic performance of the participants who qualify as dysfunctional families. The

researchers were able to obtain 43 questionnaires which were most useful and would give more

accurate results for the study.
