I choose the novel The Elephant Man by Tim Vicary.

The character that I like the least is Simon Silcock.

There are a few reasons why I choose him.
First, he is a selfish person. A selfish person will do
anything just for himself, ignoring other people feeling.
I don’t like to have a selfish friend but I like a sharing
friend. By being selfish, the community will not be
united in all situation. Based from the novel, Simon
Silcock showed his selfishness by leaving Joseph
Merrick alone in Belgium after making some money
from the show. He then even stole Joseph Merrick’s
money before he left him alone in Belgium.
He is also a greedy person. A feeling to achieve
something is good. But it is bad when we want more
for something that we have already had. It is called
greedy. Based in the novel, Simon Silcock was really
greedy when he demanded Dr Frederick Treves to pay
12 pence instead of 2 pence just to see the Elephant
Man. He even kept The Elephant Man in a filthy place
and without proper clothes.
He is also a lazy person. Lazy is a bad attitude and it will
affect our lifestyle. By being a lazy person, we cannot
make some jobs or homework perfectly. Based in the
novel, Simon Silcock was a lazy person. He did not work
for living but rather used The Elephant Man’s
deformity to earn some money. He also lived in a shop
which was really messy with rotten fruits such as bad
apples and old black bananas.
By reading this novel , we will realise that there is such
a bad person like Simon Silcock in this world and we
must not follow his bad attitudes.
