Transition Books

for bridge texts. These bridge texts help students transition successfully from Read-
Along Book lessons to Leveled Book lessons.
Transition Book lessons include pre-reading activities that help students teach,
practice, and assess vocabulary words used in bridge texts, including vocabulary
practice with multi-syllabic and compound words. Transition Book lessons also include
activities where students practice and review advanced letter sounds. Students then
practice reading informational and literary bridge texts with or without audio support,
creating audio recordings of them reading the book aloud, and answer comprehension
questions about what they learned from the book.
Transition Book lessons contain a series of literary texts called “Fables and Folktales.”
For each “Fables and Folktales” text, the lesson also includes instruction for students
on how to read and interpret the fable or folktale.

that begin with letter combinations like “kn” or “wr” and words that end with “–nk”
or “–ng.” Imagine Learning provides standards-based interactive curriculum, as well as
supplemental activities, such as printouts, to help reinforce these skills and build
spelling automaticity.
