An Annotated Bibliography: Schindler List

“Oskar Schindler.” United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, United States Holocaust

Memorial Museum, www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?Moduled=10005787 Accessed 2

March 2017.

The Holocaust Memorial Museum website is credible source because within the

site there are links to all their social media connected to the museum, which are real links.

There is a section where you can plan your visit to the museum, and there’s also section

where you can learn the history of things attached to holocaust and Schindler’s list.

The source goes on to explain important things that happened in Schindlers life.

Including his life before the Holocaust. During World War II, Schindler rescued more

than 1,000 Jews from deportation to Auschwitz, which was the Nazi’ largest killing

camp. It also goes on to explain after the war and how he ended up dying in 1974. It goes

into great depth about his factory and how he split the Jews and how he talked the SS into

keeping them for his own labor instead of being sent off to concentration camps.

Oscar Schindler cared so much for his Jewish people he saved. He sacrificed a lot

of money for them to be able to survive and live. He treated them with respect and

wanted each one of them to survive. He would fight for them against the SS and made

sure he always won and kept them all safe. This source also talks about his life before and

after the war, how he had to evacuate from his camps after liberation.

The source called “The real Oskar Schindler” is a reliable source. This is because

it includes the authors name of the website and it says the days it was lasted edited by that

author. This help provide evidence that this a good source.

This article includes a lot of points of view from Stern. Stern was Schindlers right

hand man and helped him type out the whole famous list of Jewish people. It goes into

detail how the Jews did not trust him at first, but overtime learned he was doing good for

them. It understandable that they had little hope that he was good person and not going to

kill them since some of them had already lost family in the holocaust. This article is

specific of how the Jews feel about Schindler helping them at all stages from the

beginning to end of holocaust. Its also said he lied to the SS saying how he would kill any

Jew who would not work and beat them and make them feel tortured.

This article showed more of the Jews thanks to Schindler for the help surviving

the worst times in their lives. The Jews later after hearing about the awful things that

happened at Auschwitz they were forever grateful for what Oscar did for them to survive.

The Jewish society will never be able to return the favor to schindler as for he saved

hundreds of lives. Schindler lied to the most important people at the time and said he

would hurt the Jews and make them work very hard, however he did not, and he treated

them with respect. He treated the way they deserved to be treated after knowing that their

friends were being slaughter at the same time they were living.

This website is credible and good website to receive research from. An example is

how it states the authors name in the website. It also has few advertisements, which helps

prove its credible.

This source says how Schindler spent his money for each of the Jews life. He

spent over a million dollars trying to save as many as he could. Which included bribing

the SS not to kill or take his Jews. He eventually risked his life to rescue the Schindler-

Jews. to go along with that he would fight people just to keep his Jews safe. The websites

about the story of Oscar Schindler who stepped up and helped countless number of Jews.

He was the type of person who everyone wanted to be around. Especially when

Europe was falling apart, and you were a Jew. His goal became clear to him, to save as

many Jewish people as he could, so they would not have to suffer or die. He was willing

to spend all his money for human lives, to be able to do that you have to be an

extraordinary. He could have just been greedy and kept his money for himself and not

saved over hundreds of people.

Wiesel, Elie. Night. 1st ed., Hill and Wang. 2006.

This book is credible source, because it is written by someone who lived through

the holocaust. All things written in the book are true, because he saw everything with his

own eyes. Another reason is the book has received numerous awards for this book.

He talks about different themes and important details throughout his book

including indifference, Dehumanization, and loss of faith. He mentions indifference a lot

and explains how everyone was indifferent at one point whether it is a solider, Jew,

countries who aren’t stepping in to help, or the people at home. He also talks about how

the solider treated the prisoners as they are not real humans. For example, they would put

only one bucket of water in the train and expect them to share it all and up to 80 of them

were in a train at a time. Also, the trains are not nice, they would be packed like sardines

into a cattle car. Finally, with loss of faith, everyone in the camps lost all faith in God and

thought why He would put them in a situation like that if he really loved them.

The book goes on and talks about so many different topics in the holocaust. How

they would treat them like animals, and that’s how lucky people would be if they were in

Schindler factory because he treated them with more respect. The selection process

decides who lived and who died, as Schindler attempted to write down every single name

he could think of to save people from not having to make it the selection process but

instead in safety in his factory. Schindler treated with his Jews with so much respect

compared to how they were treated at Auschwitz. Jews were so thankful when they were

able to go to his factory and help him instead of being killed by the Nazi and SS.
