Giselle Aguilar-Rivera

Hello my name is Giselle Aguilar-Rivera and I’m a constituent from Salt Lake City. I’m writing to
you because there’s a serious threat to DACA, a program that allows qualified young
immigrants to obtain temporary relief from deportation and renewable employment authorization
after passing a rigorous criminal background check. This program could come to an end pretty
soon leaving nearly 800,000 young people without work authorization and subject to
deportation.

I want to encourage our Senior State Senator, Orrin Hatch; our Junior Senator, Mike Lee, and
our four state representatives to support bipartisan and Republican lead legislating such as the
DREAM and RAC Acts that would protect undocumented youth, also known as Dreamers. I
have a sister who’s a Dreamer who’s done nothing but work for the past couple years being that
she is under DACA program. It’s all she can really do and I really don’t want to see her have the
opportunity to work taken away from her. That is why I decided to do this project based on facts
and a timeline with deportation and how it lead up to the DACA program we have now. Our time
is now and if we don’t act now, thousands of innocent kids won’t have their rights to work and
could potentially be sent back from the only place they could call home.

I want to know our Senator’ and Representative’s position on this legislation?
