Purpose: Standard Operating Procedure for Seal Air Compressor

Scope: This procedure explains the Starting/Stopping of Seal Air Compressor.

Responsibility: Compressor operator, Desk Engineer, Shift Incharge.

Guide line:-
 All work permit should be cancelled.
 Ensure Power supply should be normal.
 Clearance should be available from Other department.
 Before taking in Operation Ensure equipment healthiness should be
available.

Procedure:
LINE UP PROCEDURE:

1) Take clearance from all concerned service departments, i.e. no permit are pending.
2) Ensure the following:-
a) Emergency push button is released.
b) Ensure discharge valve is closed. Also ensure that valve provided in sear air
header from main compressor receiver is close.
c) Moisture trap is in line.
d) Power feeder supply is healthy.
2) Start the seal air compressor ,Observe the following:-
a) Wait for the air pressure to reach upto 7.5 kg/cm2.
b) Check loading/unloading system of compressor is working well.
c) Check Moisture trap is functioning well.
d) Open the discharge valve which supplies seal air and auxiliary air to the main air
compressor. Also open seal air line valve provided to individual compressors.

STOPPING PROCEDURE:

1) Open the valve provided in seal air header from main compressor receiver.
2) Close the discharge valve of seal air compressor to seal air header.
3) Stop the compressor by pressing the emergency push button.

Environment & safety Requirements: All PPE’s should be available (Helmet,
safety shoes, earplugs, gloves, goggles)

Position implementing function: This procedure is used as work instruction for Boiler
operator, Desk Engineer, Shift Incharge.
