Lesson Plan Format A

Target Age Group:​ 3-5


Topic/theme:​ Valentine’s Day
Title of Activity:​ Valentine’s Day BINGO
Purpose/objective:​ Recognizing/ counting colors, numbers, and shapes in a more visual and fun
way.

Concepts to Learn Skills to Develop Materials Required

Identify numbers Follow directions Bingo Templates

Classify shapes Waiting patiently Prizes (if any)

Sequence Activity Procedures

1 (Setup)
Bingo templates will be brought out to the table (one for each student) and chips will
be placed for children to use.

2 (Introduction)
Have children transition to the carpet and introduce them with the “Number, Shape,
and Color Papers” , in which children will go over the numbers, shapes, and colors.

3 Part 1 of the Papers: (Numbers)


Go over the numbers with children.

4 Part 2 of the Papers: (Shapes)


Go over the shapes the shapes.

5 Part 3 of the Papers: (Colors)


Point to the different colors on the Colors page and pick on children to identify them.
Talk about what kind of objects have those colors. (ex: red= strawberry, blue= sky)

6 Children who win BINGO will recite what the spaces that they won on.
7 (Closure)
Ask questions just to review what has been talked about when reading the book. Ask
open ended questions as in “Why do you think Valentine's Day is celebrated?” or
“What are the things that are done on the Valentine Holiday?”
