I am pleased to write on behalf of Christian Xavier McClendon McGhee as a candidate for your
scholarship. I have known Christian for over three years through his participation in the Jazz
Studies Program at the Harold and Dorothy Steward Center for Jazz. Christian is a young man
who exhibits excellent leadership qualities, a commitment to community service through his
school and church, and a clear passion for the performing arts.

Christian has been involved in the Jazz Education Program at the Harold and Dorothy Center for
Jazz for seven years, and has been in the Jazz St. Louis All-Stars for the past three years. Through
this program, he has been privileged to study with some of the best jazz performing artists and
educators in the world, and has been further blessed with opportunities to participate in
prestigious jazz events in St. Louis and around the country.

Christian is a solid young man whom I wholeheartedly recommend, and I respectfully request
that you give his application all due consideration.
