‘ABB ‘ASEA BROWN BOVERI Type RAZFE Three-zone, phase and earth distance relay for transmission lines ~ 1MDB06018-EN (Shang sine Aut 1900 Dam pecs cigs wet tse ‘ABB Network Control & Protection exer) Features ‘Complete phase and earth fault distance Unfaulted phase(s) polarization and memory relay system with simultaneous measure- polarization for three-phase faults ment forall fault loops in three zones *Switch-onto-tault protection ‘*Suitable for short and long lines and cables power swing logic optionally included ‘One cycle typical operating time Communication interface relays 120% standard minimum sensitivity, 19% 0p- «Zone 2 and 3 timers, 20 ms-99 s range tional Phi zone targets with ‘Three independent zones of phase-to-earth “Phase and zone targets with contacts for and three-phase and phase-to-phase mea «clective single-phase and three-phase Optimum characteristics used for phase tripping e and earth faults ‘Application RAZFE is a static fll scheme distance relay sequence compensation enables the same Which measure simultaneously all faut loops for phase and earth faults in all three zones in ‘order to provide fast and reliable protection for all types of faults on transmission lines and cables. High-speed operation in less than one cycle provides improved stabilty margins on ertical Circuits, minimizes fault damage and enhances Successful reclosing with minimum dead-time interval. Phase faults and earth faults are each ‘measured with an optimum shaped characteris- tic for the type of fault. These characteristics are suitable for any line length. Zone 1 can be set for very short lines, (approximately 1.5 km typically) as well as for very long lines. Zero~ reach for phase and earth faults. Selective single—phase tripping as well as tres pha tipping i provided by means of fhase-tearth and phase to-phase faut ‘measuring units thereby determine the desired tripping mode. The built-in phase selector is ‘unatfected by load ‘Measuring elements with mho operating char- acteristic are used to measure phase-to-phase faults. Measuring elements with reactance characteristic measure single-phase to earth faults and three-phase faults. Adjustable biin (918 restrict the response of the reactance units {from heavy loads and power swings while pro- viding allowance for fault-arc resistance. ‘ABB Network Control & Protection ‘Type RAZFE Three-zone, phase and earth distance relay for transmission lines ‘Application (cont'd) Phase-to-phase measurement 1 ‘The RAZFE can be used with a communication channel in the tripping, blocking or unblocking ‘mode, using bull-in auxiliary interface relays. ‘The transient response of capacitive voltage transformers (CV's), can cause undesired op- eration of high-speed relays. RAZFE prevents this by means of active filters. This fiter is only effective when the voltage and current identi- fied in RAZFE indicate the probable nood for transient suppression, thus the operating time of RAZFE is delayed only for a minimal amount and only when needed, to assure secure oper- ation. ‘Single-phase-to-earth measurement ‘Three-phase measurement /A memory circuit utiizad for proper tripping of close in three-phase faults. Switch-onto-fault protection is provided for tripping the breaker Should itbe closed into a fault of a mainto- nance earthing device. RAZFE has excellent ‘ault sensitivity, operating down to 20% (10% as option) of rated current. The rated current anges are 1, 2 and 5 A. Each range has a con- tinuous overioad capabilty of three times rated ‘ourrent. Thus with a 2 A relay in a 5 A CT cir- cuit, the usable sensitivity can be proportionato- ly greater. Design RAZFE is provided ina 12U (27 high) COMBIFLEX equipment frame for mounting in a standard 19 rack. The upper 2/31 of the irame, BU in space, contains all input tans- formes, compensator networks and printed Cireult boards. The printed circuit boards con- fain all of the measuring circuits, A/D signal ct Cults and digital processing £0 a8 to provide the proper outputs forthe type of faut, fault loca {ion and desired tipping mode. The eating for- mulas and relay characteristics are shown on {he large face plate covering the PC-boards. Alseting knobs are located onthe front of the relay, let of face plate. ‘The lower 1/d ofthe relay contains the do-de ‘converter plus the necessary zone timing, inter- facing, targeting and tripping modules. RAZFE is a three-phase relay which utilizes booth analog and digital techniques to attain the desired characteristics. The analog section Contains replicas of the protected line; Le., it utlizes the traditional compensator principle. ‘The desired information is contained in the phase relation or amplitude of the resulting sig- nals. These signals are processed by amplitude ‘or phase comparators to extract this informa~ tion. In the phase comparator, the signals are first squared and then their zero crossings are ‘compared in Sequential Logic Circuits (SLC), ‘The operating parameters are determined in the SLC by the sequence of these zero cross- ings. Phase faults are measured with three zones of mho characteristics; earth faults, with three zones of sloped and load compensated reactance characteristics and resistance blind- ers. ‘A three-phase fault is measured tance characteristic plus blinders. in ‘maximum line loadabilty for the needed setting to protect the line. The signals used for phase and earth fault ‘measurements are simultaneously processed. Static logic circus determine the nature ofthe a reac: his results fault and select the proper trip criteria. A power uring detecting loge function is optionally pro- vided as part of RAZFE. It responds to thrae— phase power swings and is available for use When needed; e.g, to block the zone 1 (or any one) tripping function during power swings. This blocking is limited to a 3-second period ater whieh I permits topping, should tho edance be within the RAZFE trip characteris tic. The blocking can be inhibited by energizing an input this og. AA signal status board is available for monitoring all 48 significant internal measuring elements for diagnostic test purposes. ‘Two versions of the RAZFE relay are available; (One has a builtin output relay and requires ‘Separate tripping relays. The other has built-in ‘output and tripping relays, "ABB Network Control Type RAZFE 1MDB06018-EN & Protection Three-zone, phase and Pee earth distance relay for transmission lines Technical data Rated frequency, ty 50 or 60 Hz Fated votage, Uy 110 Nomina ras sone so-taiy cone soa Y Rated cunt y TA2AGrSA Maximum current Continuous 3xh during 1s 70x, ‘Minimum operating ‘current Tos Seflonaty ‘Auxillary do voltage ‘110-125 or 220-250 V (enut aby Mo2band 20% Tip mode “Thyee-phase tipo se- : Toate Sing and threo=pnase tip Number ot zones Throoforward each zones plus one reverse fimited reach fourth “Time setting range ARKE 1) ne 2 20ms-99 8 ‘Zones 20 ms-99 5 Power consumption: involtage ereults avs In eurrent circus 0.5 VAlpnase ausdiary dc votage 80-100 W Pormissible ambient emperaturerange 010 +55°C Insulation tests: Dielectric ost 50 Hz, 20KV, 4 min Impulse voltage test 1.21505, S0KV 05 J Disturbance tests: Fasttransient test 2-4 kV, 2 min 4 te burst test longitudinal mode 25KV.2 8 transverse mode TOKV.25 Beach at § A: SoH soHz X1 ohms/phase 005-128 0.06-15.98, X2 ohms/phase 005-64 0.06788 x3 ohms/phase (005-128 0.06-153.6 Line UR matching Line UR matching Reach at § Ain the resistive direction Zero-sequence ‘compensation factor Ky =05,06..1.1 Resetting ratio, Zone 1 static accuracy Strelerence conditions ‘ang: ting TeX <80 ohm ~85Ssin <0 Zone 2 static accu {treteronce condition’ net Tine angle ER, 285 onm Phase ~05<5iA<30 Static accuracy atthe ‘is at reference cond ~ SER < 50 ohm! loop | -08 Ba SS 200 ms/t5, 20/108 Hovde, 3 220 V de, 1.08 ‘Approx. 40 kg, ‘ABB Network Control Type RAZFE 1MDB06018-EN & Protection Three-zone, phase and Pa earth distance relay for transmission lines Ordering Specify * Tipping mode: selective single-phase oF Type RAZFE twee-phaso Quantity * Tripping relays for separate mounting ‘Ordering No. RK 613 002-CB (without tripping relays) or RK 613 002-DB (with tripping relays) ‘*Rated frequency, fp ‘*Rated ac voltage, Uy ‘*Rated ac current, In, ‘Electronic de supply voltage, EL ‘Interface relay de supply voltage, UL. ‘*Channel receive relay de supply voltage, RL. ‘*Minimum operating ac current 0.2 Ip oF 0.1 Ip ‘Protection communication scheme.
