Synopsis of ‘True Colours’

True Colours is a film based off of the theme ‘homosexuality’. Using the idea of a film to
demonstrate how it is correct, and normal to be homosexual, the film is an example of
teaching the audience a specific subject.

The main role of ‘Ricky’ plays the role of the person who is homosexual, and is struggling to
open up about this secret. His secret has been found out by his father figure who doesn’t
take it too well. His sexuality leads him forward to having a restricted relationship with his
father, who only admires him for his passion in sports. The restricted relationship means that
Ricky loses someone to go to, and it means he has now lost someone close to him.

His passion for sports is what helps Ricky through any of his difficult times. He resorts to
these to lose any stress, and let any emotions out of him. As he struggles to find his feet,
eventually Ricky is eligible to come out to the world, about his sexuality, by bringing out his
‘Gay Pride Rainbow Flag’. The flag is a symbolism of homosexuality, and Ricky uses this as a
way to express himself, once we arrive at the latter stages of the film.
