Vinay Vakharia
Session Chair for the Track: Optimization and Machine Learning Techniques for Industrial Applications

Dr. Vinay Vakharia is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Mechanical


Engineering, School of Technology, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
He completed his Ph.D. from PDPM IIITDM Jabalpur in August 2015 and his area of investigation was
Bearing Fault Diagnosis with the help of Signal Processing Techniques and Machine Learning
applications. Dr. Vakharia received Silver medal for best academic performance in Mechanical
Engineering (PG) during 7th Convocation held at IIITDM Jabalpur in the year 2015.

After joining PDPU, Gandhinagar he is presently working in areas such as:

 Tool Condition Monitoring.


 Application of Image Processing Techniques for Texture characterization of Machined
Components.
 Fault Severity Analysis.
 Traffic Management system for Smart City with the help of Machine Learning Techniques.
 Developing Machine Learning Mathematical models for Civil Engineering applications etc.

Dr. Vakharia visited Florence, Italy in the year 2015 and had given invited talk in 12th International
Conference on Sound and Vibration (ICSV). In July 2017 he has received best presentation award at the
7th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE) supported by IEEE, at
Prague, Czech Republic. As a keynote speaker in December 2017, Dr. Vakharia delivered his talk on the
topic “Application of Machine Learning Techniques for Mechanical Engineers” at 4th International
Conference on Multidisciplinary Research and Practice organized at Ahmedabad Management
Association.

He has received funding of INR 2, 10, 575 from Office of Student Research Programme (ORSP) funded by
PDPU and Reliance for doing his research activity.
