Summary
Along with a rigorous course load comprised mostly of honors and advanced placement classes, I have
taken part in several of my school’s performance and creative opportunities. I have taken part in school
musicals, Colorguard and Winterguard, and participated in local writing competitions. I also work at my
local Panera Bread as an associate. These many activities have taught me the importance of
organization and prioritization.
Extracurriculars
Spring Musicals
Two months of after school rehearsals prior to performances that showcase dancing, singing, and acting
as an ensemble member.
An average of 15 hours of rehearsals a week to choreograph a show consisting of spinning and tossing
rifles, sabres, and flags and dancing. These shows are then performed in competition against other
guards of similar skill level.
Leadership
Colorguard Captain
As captain, I organize equipment and keep the team informed on meetings and essential information on
rehearsals and competitions. I also ensure that members are keeping up with individual responsibilities
and that they are having a positive experience to maintain a strong, successful team.
Work Experience
Awards
In 2015, after my first season of Fall Colorguard, my instructors and peer leaders chose me as the best
colorguard member of the year for my hard work and dedication.
2nd Place in Short Story of GFWC of North Carolina, Inc. The Arts Festival
In 2016, my junior year, I received second place in a short story competition at a state/regional level
against other high school students for my short story, “A Walk Through the Park”.
