Please accept this letter and enclosed materials in application of the High School Mathematics
Teacher vacancy at _________ School District. This June, I will gradate from Drexel University
with a Mathematics degree, certification to teach secondary mathematics, and minors in
Education and Finance. In addition to my degree, certification, and minors, I’ve had the
opportunity to work in may different science and mathematics classes throughout the
Philadelphia and Chester County School Districts throughout my undergraduate studies. Upon
graduation, it is my goal to continue my career in the place that I have loved living in my entire
life thus far.
One of the primary reasons why I am interested in the position at _______ is because of my
positive student teaching experience at Bodine High School this past quarter. During my time at
Bodine, I taught Algebra 1 (primarily ninth grade course), Algebra 2 (tenth grade), International
Baccalaureate Math Studies (eleventh grade), and AP Calculus (twelfth grade). Each age group
had their own strengths and struggles, but all of whom I treasured my time with. Teaching
freshman facilitated my instruction of seniors, and teaching Calculus helped me improve my
lessons and projects for the Algebra 1 classes, reminding me to always connect all levels of math
and instruction, regardless of how difficult or non-linear math may seem sometimes.
In addition to my student teaching experience, the enclosed resume also demonstrates my
leadership skills and work ethic. What does not show on my resume is that I have been
independently financing my college education, which has taught be to be autonomous, focused,
driven, and organized. I am confident that I have the in-classroom training, excitement, and
personal qualities to make an excellent teacher, leader, contributor to the mathematics
department, and role model in the ________ community. I would appreciate the opportunity for

I am currently in the area, though am student teaching until graduation, but would love to speak
