SAQ Manifest Destiny

1. A. Manifest Destiny was a doctrine with belief that the expansion through North America

was right. This expressed the philosophy that helped the United States territorial

expansion. Also, it was to expand and spread capitalism and democracy through North

America.

B. One reason that may have served as a guide is the religious influence the Manifest

Destiny. It was believed that they were destined by God to expand their borders and there

was no limit to how far they could expand. This helped assist in the expansion because

people believed it was God’s call to expand the American government and the land in

North America.

C. The Manifest Destiny had a very large impact on our foreign policy. This encouraged

for Westward expansion towards the Pacific and changed relationships with other

countries. This expansion was started because of the Louisiana Purchase and encouraged

Westward colonization.
