Mentoring

End of Course Reflection

The process of being paired with my our mentees was fun. We had 5 minute

conversations with each other in the class and after we finished we filled out a survey where we

had to say what our three top choices were. The choices were regarding common interests for the

year. What worked perfectly was that I had a good relationship with my two mentees. What

didn’t work was that I wish I could’ve spend more time with them. An advantage of being paired

with my two mentee’s was that they were boys and I had to look for topics that we both liked.

The objective of the Bryant Carnival Project for us (mentoring class) was to come along

with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the Bryant Mentoring Class together as a team and to create a

Carnival with different activities and games for the mentees that the mentors from Bryant had.

We had games, arts and crafts, a dance battle which were all part of the Carnival Project.I think

we succeeded in meeting our goal because all the activities that we planned were done, the kids

had so much fun and everything went well. The role/responsibility I had for the carnival, was

face painting but we also were able to move around to other stations to assist with other

activities. It was fun and helpful to the children we worked with.I believe that my contribution in

the carnival was good, I tried to be part of each activity and help others as much as I could.
I honestly do not have any suggestions for the mentoring class. I like the way Crystal has

taught the class and the relationship she has with Kelsey who was from “Big Brothers, Big

Sisters Program”. I really enjoyed mentoring class and being paired with an underclassmen.
