By Caitlin Cole: Period 1

What I Learned
I learned in this project that a catapult takes a special structure to get the result you want. Each part of
the construction must be precise. The structure can be made of anything that can be like a rod, and they
help support the structure. I also learned that different models and styles shoot the marshmallow
different heights and distances. Mine didn’t shoot very far. But more heavy sturdy catapults with rubber
bands, such as those made with wood, are more effective. That is only if the goal is to go a far distance
and not height.

How My Project Worked

My project consists of a structure to hold the launcher. Plus many rubber bands to hold the launcher to
the structure. There is a bottle cap on the launcher to hold the object being thrown.

Problems To Fix In The Future

One problem is taking time to build the catapult and to be patient. My problem was I was impatient and
not willing to take the time. I could’ve used more sturdier rubber bands because my launcher was
constantly moving and then not preforming the way I would have hoped.

Real Life Examples

Golf is an example of a projectile whose landing spot has to be predicted carefully. Also, when pouring a
liquid into a cup or container that takes thought, because it would be bad to miss the cup or container.
