Image Modification Options
Modify your image using one of the options below. Your image should not be smaller than it’s
actual size, but may be enlarged up to 12” x 12”.
1. Free image:
○ Student may pick any three elements and/or design principles to modify their
image (i.e scale, shape, texture, size, value, line, depth, mass, motion, light,
rhythm, repetition, focal point, etc.).
○ The student may add text or other outside elements to the image.
○ The student may intervene the image themselves (by hand, or through digital
imaging).
○ The image should retain a minimum of 40% of the original image (even if this
information is modified).
2. Album Cover:
○ Student will pick a genre of music and create an album for a non-existent band.
They will have to create a band name and an album title and create the cover of
the album.
○ Among the other visual elements/design principles that the student will employ,
they should consider rhythm and repetition in their image in order to link the
album to the music it represents.
○ The student may add text or other outside elements to the image.
○ The student may intervene the image themselves (by hand, or through digital
imaging).
○ The image should retain a minimum of 40% of the original image (even if this
information is modified).
3. Movie poster:
○ Student will pick a genre of music and create an album for a non-existent band.
They will have to create a Movie Title and the names of the leading actors and
create the cover of the album.
○ Among the other visual elements/design principles that the student will employ,
they should consider scale and contrast in their image in order to link the movie
poster to the film it represents.
○ The student may add text or other outside elements to the image.
○ The student may intervene the image themselves (by hand, or through digital
imaging).
○ The image should retain a minimum of 40% of the original image (even if this
information is modified).
