CHILDREN IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW: THEIR FUTURE IN THE LABOUR MARKET

ABSTRACT

Children and young adults play a very important role in the development of the society.

However, the children in conflict with the law, or the juvenile delinquents, are the most

overlooked among the children in every society. Every child who comes in contact with the

juvenile justice system is a child in difficult circumstances and has been robbed of an

opportunity of a safe and secure childhood.

This research seeks to find out how children in conflict with law are treated in the labour

market particularly in recruitment processes of companies and whether they are given equal

opportunity amidst their previous criminal records. The main focus of this paper is to determine

the direct correlation of being a child in conflict with the law and unemployment.
