Communication Management
Experiences on STD/HIV/AIDS
Target Group: Since 1992, I have been working actively in the HIV/AIDS sector. I was member of technical sub committee on HIV/AIDS
Slum people, issue for two years before turning all sub-committees together as STD/HIV/AIDS NGOs network-Bangladesh. I have

NGOs, ICDDR-B and Population Counsel's conference in 1993. I have translated, published and disseminated the book AIDS
adult learners, Questions and Answers (published by UNICEF, Zimbabwe-1993). I have written several articles on HIV/AIDS for electronic
CSWs, newsletters and work as the Key Correspondents of Health Development Network (HDN). I have worked as the
Mass communication contact for 5th ICAAP-1999, BambaNani Communication contact for International AIDS Conference-2000-
population, Durban and Amasiko member (International member for cultural Committee) and also worked for International AIDS
and donors Conference-Barcelona-2002 as Asia and the Pacific contact. I have developed a Bangla training module on "How to speak
about at the community level" I am actively involved with STD/HIV/AIDS Network-Bangladesh. Moreover I was adviser of
Nari Unnayan Shakti to implement following projects on HIV/AIDS:
HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (HAPP) for the Street Based Sex Workers (CSWs) with effect from August 2004 till to
date at Chittagong and Barisal Division supported by MOHFW, UNICEF, DORP.
HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (HAPP) for the Internal Migrants with effect from August 2004 to date at Chittaging
Division. It is supported by MHFW, UNICEF and BRAC.
NUS have been conducting STD/AIDS prevention program for the University and college students from 1993 with the
support of FCHD. NUS developed a total of 177 Peer Educators and 26 Youth Ambassadors under Commonwealth
Youth Program. To date 25000 students are oriented.
Conducting several STD/AIDS prevention program for Street Based CSWs on HIV/AIDS prevention, STD treatment
and general health care in five thanas of Dhaka City It is supported by UNDP. It is an integrated program under CSWs
social rehabilitation project at Badda since 2000.
NUS organizes stage cultural shows (drama and songs presentation on AIDS prevention) and public gathering with
the support of FCHD and till date has organized 924 shows.

In the communication sector, I have working experience in both individually and a team environment for
policy advocacy, social mobilization, creating mass awareness and change behavior on different development
issues.

Cultural Policy I am one of the founders of “Graam Theatre” a network of community based cultural organization with 180 organizations
Makers, throughout the country. Founder member of Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum, STD/HIV/AIDS network-Bangladesh and
NGOs, Reader, Founding Advisor of Women and Environment Forum and have participated actively in different advocacy for
Mass people development.

Common Mass I have good working experience of using Popular Theatre, Video documentary film, Video
people educative animation, Audio, Poster, Flip chart, Sticker etc.
Target Group: Policy Advocacy
Policy Maker I was involved actively in the policy advocacy, like Child Rights that is now included in the mandates of different political
party. I have arranged round table meeting with elected body (M.P. and minister) and ex-officio of the Government and
call on to prime minister for policy advocacy. My active role was also in to ratify ILO Article-182 for eliminating child
labor
Target Group: In 1993, I had designed a peer education-training module on HIV/AIDS for educating students of Dhaka University and
College Home Economics College to reduce misunderstanding on the issue among the student community. Nari Unnayan Shakti
/University implemented the program. I have conducted 13 workshops as the key speaker and course coordinator. Getting our
Student information about peer education training in Bangladesh, ICDDR-B and Population Council was invited me to present a
paper on my experience at their conferences on HIV/AIDS in 1993.
Target Group: I have designed training for developing "Peer Educator Group" among the Rickshawpullers and the slum women in the
Rickshawpuller/ slum areas of Khilgaon Thana. Nari Unnayan Shakti implemented the program. In the training program, I was the Key
Laborers facilitator. I have participated more than 20 peer education training during 1996- 2001.

I have a good experience of peer education using as the tool for a very sensitive research in the community. That was in
Target 1995, I got a research work for finding out status data on no-commercial child sex abuse. The research was for Breaking

programs to monitor the project.

Target Group I was related with Bangladesh Center for Communication Program(BCCP) as an individual creative writer on Adolescent
Students of BRAC Reproductive Health. I have contributed the main article and a rhyme for the monthly newsletter called "Jante Chai Janate
schools and other Chai".

Target Group I have written drama and a numbers of songs on Gender issue. In 1993-94 the Drama on Gender issue has performed in

Unnyan Shakti has implemented Gender and Development program in the slum areas of Dhaka City where I had designed
gender development programme and implementation plan.

Target Group: The research location was for the both sides of Bangladesh and India border to find out peoples mobility to cross over the
UNICEF border and their high-risk behavior to be infected of HIV/AIDS. Moreover, the research has looked in to the impact of short
Policy Makers migration and trafficking. The research was conducted for UNICEF.

I had taken initiative to provide Food, Medicare and clothes among two thousand families of Khilgaon Thana of Dhaka city.
Cyclone 1991
As the Chief Coordinator, I had Rehabilitated fisherman villages with 64 houses along with sanitary latrines and tube wells in
Fawzderhat. I had introduced an ORS plant and produce 1,20,000 sachets for distributing through different organisations of the
country.
Flood 1988
I had Coordinated Pabna thana relief work in assistance of Lions club with emergency food, clothe and Medicare.
Award Received
Awarded by Ansted University, UK for committed contribution on Peace, Human Rights and cultural communication at the
field level in 2001.
Acknowledged as Child Rights Activist by Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum in 2000.
