As a University Consultant for the University of Lethbridge, I supervised Kyle
Masson in the spring semester of 2018. Kyle was completing his Professional Semester 3 internship at St. Pat’s Fine Arts School in a Grade 5 classroom, teaching math, language PE and health. He also taught PE to a Grade 6 class.
Kyle was an excellent practicum student, exhibiting professional attributes in
many areas. He was well planned, and understood how to translate the Program of Studies into activities that promoted student learning and engagement. He took a great deal of pride in engaging students and his lesson planning always reflected this. Kyle’s ability to relate to his students was perhaps his greatest strength. He set a high standard for students in both academic effort and behavior, and they responded positively. As well as teaching, Kyle took the time to coach the basketball team at his school. Parents, staff and students appreciated his expertise and willingness to work with these young people. He was an excellent role model. Kyle was a reflective teacher and was willingly to try new approaches and change direction as needed. His flexibility was refreshing, as was his ability to take feedback. Kyle was well liked by staff and students, and I have no doubt he made a positive impression at St. Pat’s. I would have no hesitation recommending Kyle for employment as a teacher. Kyle is professional, competent and personable, and would be an asset on any school staff.
Sincerely, Carole Goodreau University Consultant, U of Lethbridge
