Wright riday, February 22 5:00 pm, Middleton Auditorium Seca 101 C: D. Wright, Professor and holder ofthe Israel J. Kapstein Chair in English at Brown University, has abled ine books of pocry, most recently Tremble (Eeco, 1996) and Deepstep Come Shining (Copper anyon, 1998). An earlier book, String Light (U of Georgia Press, 191), won the 1992 Poetry Canter’ Endowment forthe Arts, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Lila Wallace Readers Digest Foundation and the Bunting Institute. She has also received the Whiting Writers’ Award and the Witter Bynner Price for Poetry from the American Academy and Insitute for Arts and Letters, and served as State Post of Rhode Island. Fernando Operé (Poet, literary crite, professor of Latin American literature, University of Virginia) ‘Bom in Madrid, Femando Opert lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he is Professor of Latin ‘American literature atthe University of Virginia. Opert's poetry has appeared in joumala trough out Spain, Latin America, and Canada. He has published several books of poetry: Dias de asa y otro sles, Despedidas, ¢Quién eres tu Betty Blue?, Acrébata de teruras, Amor a las cuerpos, and Salo de la, materia. He is the athor of Cautivos and Historias de la frontera;eleautverto en la América Hispinica.
