the document used to specify system architecture and application design in a software-
related project
Software Design Document, a written outline of the development of a course or a
description of a software product

System Design (or Description) Document, typically written by the vendor to describe at
a high but specific level the functioning of a complex, unique system, written after the
SRD (System Requirements Document) from the customer. Examples include newly
developed military equipment, civic railroad design, and rocket subsystems. This usage
is analogous to the Software Design Document.
