DEFINITION’s

1. RATE OF DESCENT: In aeronautics, the rate of climb (RoC) is an aircraft's

vertical speed – the rate of positive altitude change with respect to time or distance.The
rate of decrease in altitude is referred to as the rate of descent (RoD) or sink rate. A
decrease in altitude corresponds with a negative rate of climb.

2. ASPECT RATIO: In aeronautics, the aspect ratio of a wing is the ratio of its span to
its mean chord. It is equal to the square of the wingspan divided by the wing area. Thus, a
long, narrow wing has a high aspect ratio, whereas a short, wide wing has a low aspect
ratio,whereas a short, wide wing has a low aspect ratio.
For a constant-chord wing of chord c and span b, the aspect ratio is given by:
AR=b/c
=b^2/s
