ISSUE: 20180611- Re: I salute Maj Darby-Griffith and others like him, etc & the constitution

As a CONSTITUTIONALIST my concern is the true meaning and application of the constitution.

* Gerrit, who was major Dab y-Griffith?

**#** INSPECTOR-RIKATI®, I understand he is one of the fallen soldiers in WWI. And I am
a person who views that no matter the cost when a soldier goes missing during service then
everything should be done to locate him, dead or alive. We should never abandon a soldier and if
he is a fallen soldier his remains should be respectfully interned. I have an absolute total dislike
on disturbing the dead. Nothing to do with religion, but I view the last resting place of a
soldier/former soldier should never be destroyed. I also view that we must look after a former
soldier when they are in need of housing, etc. We must never tolerate the disgraceful situation
that soldiers who so much sacrificed during their army service then are left homeless, etc.

Jersey WW1 soldier's final resting place found
 30 May 2018
QUOTE
The final resting place of a soldier killed in battle in World War One has been discovered in France
100 years after his death.
Maj Octavius Darby-Griffith was attached to the Jersey Royal Militia for more than 20 years.
He was killed in May 1918 near Reims after being shot in the heart and for a century, had no known grave.
But thanks to the work of a UK historian, his headstone has been rededicated

US Navy 'jack-the-lad' deserter turned WW1 military hero
 15 April 2017
QUOTE
The story of a US Navy deserter who later joined a UK regiment and won the Military Medal during World
War One has been uncovered.
"Jack-the-lad" Leroy West was in the 1/4th Battalion, the Northamptonshire Regiment, in what was Palestine.
The sniper was awarded the medal after the Second Battle of Gaza on 19 April 1917, which resulted in the
battalion's single biggest loss of life on one day.
West survived the war but then disappeared from records.
David Parish, from the Northampton branch of the Western Front Association, said the "jack-the lad"
probably did not want to be found and no photos of him exist.
He said: "His real name was Henry Clarence John Holscher, he was born in 1888 in Auto in Texas, he
qualified as a civil engineer and jumped ship in Liverpool."
Alison Butler, who has written a battalion history with Mr Parish, said they gleaned the private's history from
his service record.
"It's full of his insubordination - he didn't like taking orders, he didn't like saluting and he didn't like
discipline," she said.
West, who claimed to be Canadian when he joined the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1915, was court-
martialled, jailed, escaped and recaptured while serving in Egypt.
After six months' hard labour, he was released into the care of 1/4th Battalion and it appears he found his
niche.
Miss Butler said: "They sent him on a scout's course and he became a sniper.

"He was in no man's land, scouting up to the enemy's trenches, no one was telling him what to do and he was
in his element."
West's sentence was commuted as a result of his gallantry.
The story was discovered ahead of events to mark the 100th anniversary of the Second Battle of Gaza,
in which 139 men from the battalion died.

* Can you understand a soldier doing as he did?

**#** Indeed I can to some degree.
When I was drafted in the Royal Dutch army I hated it. I was on average about 3 times a day on
report. The Captain told me to look at a fellow soldier and whatever he had on I should. I did and
when I came out I was the odd one out because the soldier had changed while I had changed.
When I had light arrest, meaning not allowed to go home for the week-end having to stay in the
army camp and well I noticed there was a dance in the army camp (kazerne) and so I went in and
danced with ta generals 2 daughters. OK in front of all the generals that hardly was unnoticed
and so I was sentenced to 3 days imprisonment. Well it was pouring rain and my fellow soldiers
were on an obstacle course in the rain and dirt while I was playing chess in the cell. Well the
General (with who’s daughters I had been dancing) happen to come in and well when he saw me
I explained how nice it was dry in the cell instead of in the mud and rain. Oh boy, he told me to
get out and join my fellow soldiers. So much for being honest about having done me a favour to
get me for 3 days in a dry cell. Then there was this captain (who was serving In Seven Germany
part of NATO) visiting and he explained that if I was to join him in seven then likely it be the
end of any reports. He was right. I became a role model soldier, and became a regular
(professional) but then later due to illness resigned and moved to Australia. So I can in a sense
relate to the story of the soldier as it depends upon your superior if he provides the right kind of
understanding or not. From an average of 3 times a day on report to none at all surely indicates
that this captain who took me to Germany surely knew how to deal with someone and at no time
did he threaten me rather he was a very friendly chap and from onset we somehow seemed to get
along. While in Germany (serving also at the then Iron Curtain – about 50 years ago) when we as
soldiers went to Hamburg I was so to say the one staying sober and making sure to get all men
back to the army camp. To be honest I have seen men from decent blokes in the army turning
like dirt and others who were so to say dirt becoming fine upstanding men. It is just how your life
happens to be transformed by army life. I never regretted having served in the armed forces but I
would not desire to do the same in NATO as it now turned out to be. It is not the NATO I knew
then. Then I held it was for security whereas now I view it goes overboard in warmongering.
* What is your view about those young man who are seen to claim being refugees of poor
countries using mobile phones, wear Niki clothing, etc?
**#** Our Framers of the Constitution stated:
Hansard 10-3-1891 Constitution Convention Debates (Official Record of the Debates of the
National Australasian Convention)
QUOTE Mr. DIBBS:
where we are giving the people of the country practically a free education-and it should be
common to all Australia-we should instil into the minds of our children the necessity for
training, and, as a quid pro quo for that free education,

That the military and naval defence of Australia shall be intrusted to federal forces under
one command.

Of course that is a sine qua non; and I hope we shall not do this thing by halves. I hope
we shall not, as has been done in the United States, provide for a divided authority over any
of our forces, whether those forces consist of a standing army, of citizen troops, of
militia, or of any other description of force whatever.

What the Framers of the Constitution indicated was that citizens should be prepared to serve in
the armed forces to serve their country in return for the free education they are being provided
with.
What we see, for instance in Europe, the droves of young man claiming asylum being of fighting
age and then expect soldiers of the countries they enter then to fight for the wives and children
they as cowards left behind to fend for themselves. I understand that the Czech Government
made clear they should train those fighting fit young man and send them back to their home
country to fight for their own country and not expect other people to do their fighting for them.
Here we have what I consider cowards to demand human rights but never mind their children and
wives they left behind. Then we have on the other hand soldiers like Maj Darby-Griffith and
"Jack-the-lad" Leroy West and numerous others not to overlook our own current and past
serving soldiers who often are blatantly disregarded by our politicians. Actually I happen to read
a newspaper earlier today and noticed there was a list of Queen Birthday awards. And here I
noticed Dawn Fraser. I recall she (with Paul Cronin) was promoting MONEY FOR LIVING,
and I understood many were duped in the scheme, losing their homes, etc. Well, if this kind of
conduct is to be ignored for an award then surely we have at least in my view a problem. It seems
never mind the people who were harmed by this scheme. No excuse not knowing about it, as
when you use your credentials to promote something then you need to accept accountability
when things goes wrong.
* We have politicians living it up on taxpayers monies and former soldiers living on the streets
do you hold this to be fair?
**#** I understand that Malcolm Turnbull PM is for a night sleeping in a tent, not under some
bridge like homeless people. So, to me it is more like a farce. There at times young mothers who
with small children have nowhere to go and even end up sleeping in the parks on a bench, that is
if there is any. Yet we spend billions of dollars on giveaway to other nations. We need to look
after our own first. So, not a single cent to aid to other countries while we have our own
homeless. And those who desire to fund anyone overseas can do so from their own pockets.
Fw: : NURSE IN GERMANY SENDS A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD
mitterer@tpg.com.au
QUOTE
In a hospital near the Rhine, migrants attacked the staff with knives after they had handed over an 8-month-
old on the brink of death, who they'd dragged across half of Europe for three months. The child died two
days later, despite having received top care at one of the best pediatric clinics in Germany. The pediatric
physician had to undergo surgery and the two nurses are recovering in the ICU. Nobody has been punished."

'The local press is forbidden to write about it, so we can only inform you through email. What would have
happened to a German if he had stabbed the doctor and nurses with a knife or if he had flung his own
syphilis-infected urine into a nurse's face and so threatened her with infection.? At a minimum, he would
have gone straight to jail and later to court. With these people so far, nothing has happened."?

And so I ask: Where are all those greeters and receivers from the train stations.? Sitting pretty at home,
enjoying their uncomplicated, safe lives. If it were up to me, I would round up all those greeters and
bring them here first to our hospitals emergency ward as attendants! Then in to one of the buildings

housing the migrants, so they can really look after them there themselves, without armed police and police
dogs, who, sadly today, are in every hospital here in Bavaria."

Is this "situation" coming to your country...??? Yes,it is...!!!

* Would you agree that those politicians so much pursuing the so called refugees to be accepted
should then first of all prove they themselves will take some in to their own houses to show it can
work?
**#** I doubt they would want their own partners/kids to be raped, tortures, and killed. It is
alright for others to suffer that kind of end. How absurd those of the bleeding heart brigade
complaining about so called refugees when they cannot care less about our own returned soldiers
living on the streets. Any person who calls himself a leader allowing such conditions to eventuate
is not in my view a leader but grossly in competent to lead.
* What about respecting the dead?
**#**In my view it should be by legislation that any former soldier last resting place is to be
respected and not say upended to make space for some other body to be internet while the
remains of the former soldiers are disposed of. There is nothing wrong with using the desert for a
huge cemetery where each and every former soldier can have a final resting place for ever. In
time to come tours could be organized for children and others to visit such a cemetery and
knowing that we are a nation who look after those who served this country well. And I would
include any former soldier who has not served as an enemy soldier against Australians.
* Do you know of any other country honouring its dead as such?
**#** Let us not ignore that many a parents lost their only child to serve this country and we
should show our appreciation towards this. They have Arlington in the US, and we should
likewise have a similar kind of national cemetery and Australia is large enough with vacant
spaces in the desert to follow the lead of Las Vegas and turn it into usable area. Keep in mind
that we have refugees who may come from dessert areas of their home country and they could
be if anything experts in working in such conditions to turn a desert into a livable area, perhaps a
tourist attraction also where the dead can be honoured for ever in time.
* Are you in favour of compulsory army service?
**#** I know too well what army life is about and it can be for the better of some and worse of
others. But those who served in the armed forces should have our total support after they leave
the armed forces. And perhaps for the desert project we could find that those who are on a semi-
permanent dole existence to learn how to build in the desert. Well that would be something, as
then they can learn what life really is about. We had this gutless wonder as I understand it who
was claiming that it was cruel for refugees to live in tents. Well this show how ignorant such a
person is as our soldiers generally from time to time do live in tents. I did during my army years.
Actually my wife made known that when she was working as a civilian for the Czech army doing
the payrolls, etc, about 65 years ago she then had at times to go on bivak (tent living), and once
the general asked her to come with her typewriter and well she slipped and ended up in the mud
with the typewriter. As she made known she had to go on camp for 3 weeks and she learned there
was no such thing as everyday showering, etc. A shame most politicians never experience this
kind of real life. If they did they would gain more respect for former soldiers, etc.
