Plotting Borehole Locations for Deviated

Boreholes in GEOVIA Minex

We recently released Minex 6.5.3, (http://blogs.3ds.com/geovia/minex-6-5-3-released/) which provides

30 user-requested updates to improve productivity and user experience. These improvements include:

Stability and performance improvements to core, borehole, dump scheduling, seam modelling,
Open pit, and underground
Improved predictive text feature providing a better user experience on string create form
Improved Grid compute function when estimating by ordinary kriging
Usability improvement on Grid manipulation when selecting a pre-existing grid prior to save
New report field in UG schedule detailed report, displaying average seam thickness for each panel
that has multiple seams
Geostatistics updated to version 6.8
A new version of Network License Manager

Minex 6.5.3 (http://blogs.3ds.com/geovia/minex-6-5-3-released/) is provided complimentary as part

of the GEOVIA Maintenance and Support Program subscription and can be downloaded through from
the 3DS Support Site (https://www.3ds.com/support/download/overview/). Click here

As part of these improvements, Minex is also able to plot borehole locations at seam for deviated
boreholes.

1. To do this, go to Mounts > Plan > Borehole locations to bring up the Borehole Plan Locations
dialog box.
2. Select the option Single Seam. Selecting a seam will enable Minex to plot the position of a
borehole at the selected seam. If you select the option Multi-Seam, it will plot the location at

3. For Underground mines, you will need to submit the plans with boreholes at working seam positions
for statutory permissions. You can customize the Borehole Symbol by going to the Plot symbols drop-
down menu.

4. The below screenshot illustrates what it should look like after borehole locations are plotted at seam
position.

Please note that this function is only available in Minex 6.5.3 onwards.
