NEWSLETTER 2018/2019
A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR
It has been a privilege to serve as Mayor of Braint fu gwasanaethu fel Maer Gorseinon a

On a personal note, I would like to thank my wife Rebecca for all her gefnogaeth gydol y flwyddyn. Mae bod yn rhieni am y tro cyntaf wedi

TY NEWYDD COMMUNITY CENTRE

The New Ty Newydd Community Centre
opposite Gorseinon bus station has been
open for over a year now and several
community groups have regular bookings;
all for a very reasonable £8 per session.
There are two accessible rooms available
for hire downstairs with associated kitchen
and toilet facilities.
Regular bookings include; a Sewing group
on Thursday evenings, a Felters group on
Saturdays, and a Quilters group soon this
Summer. Political groups have regular
monthly meetings as well as the local
Widow/Widowers meeting every alternate
Monday morning.
Other businesses have booked the Hall for
interview and training sessions, as well as
Public meetings, keep fit sessions, Social
Services and Nursery groups sessions.

ONE VOICE WALES
Gorseinon Town Council members
attended the One Voice Wales Annual
General Meeting in April this year and are
proud to announce that we have received
an award for youth engagement for
delivering the Skatepark and for
community engagement for our
involvement with Food With Friends. One
Voice Wales covers 730+ Town and
Community Councils across Wales and
we were thrilled to have won 3rd Place
(Commended) in both categories. This
award belongs to all involved with these
projects, specifically the children of
Penyrheol and Gorseinon as well as
members of St Catherine's Church.

COMMUNITY QUESTIONNAIRE
The Town Council covers Gorseinon and Penyrheol and your FRIENDS OF LOCAL PARKS INITIATIVE
Town Councillors are trying to establish priorities within
