(1) All CHP are blocked (Subsystem down) when Virtual LVI/LUN is performed
Item Description
Contents [Phenomenon I]
When a setting operation of Install CV/Volume To Space/Make Volume/Volume Initialize of
Virtual LVI/LUN is performed using Storage Navigator (or Hicommand), WCHK1 may occur in
all CHA, and the subsystem may go down.
[Phenomenon II]
When setting operation of Install CV/Volume To Space/Make Volume/Volume Initialize of
Virtual LVI/LUN performed using Storage Navigator (or Hicommand or SNMP), installed
LDEV not recognized from host and Storage Navigator (or Hicommand or SNMP) not used.
Conditions 1. Configuration
[Phenomenon I]: RAID5 (7D+1P) exists.
[Phenomenon II]: RAID5 (7D+1P) does not exist.
2. Operation
When the operations A and B perform in order, this problem may occur.
A. When the configuration information is updated using Storage Navigator (or Hicommand or
SNMP) due to one of the following operations, an error occurs. Install CV/Volume To
Space/Volume Initialize/Make Volume operation of Virtual LVI or Open Volume Management.
Add LU/Delete LU operation of Hi-Copy
B. The following operation of Virtual LVI or Open Volume Management performed from
Storage Navigator (or Hicommand or SNMP). Install CV/Volume To Space/Volume
Initialize/Make Volume operation
In case (2), when a configuration update error occurs, the following message displays. In case
(1), the error message will not display.
“Failed to update the configuration information. Please call the Support Center. (605 8971)”

(2) Wrong LDEV# Displayed on the LDEV Path Group ID Display Panel
Item Description
Contents When reducing parity groups/CVs for a Mainframe volume that was in online status, the
operation stopped by a pre-check. LDEV# different from the ones to reduce were displayed on
the LDEV Path Group ID Display panel.
Conditions The problem occurs with all conditions met.
1. Reducing parity groups/CVs for a Mainframe volume by using SVP
2. The Mainframe volume is in the online status (path groups exist)
3. Multiple CU# exist on the Mainframe volume
