Introduction:
The GWF Ribbon Shifter (prefolder) is a single web angle bar assembly incorporating a
slitter, angle bars and a compensator, it is designed for web presses up to 38”
(965mm) wide with combination or newspaper folders.

Upon entering the prefolder, which installs immediately before the press folder, the
web is slit into two similar or dissimilar width ribbons. The ribbons may then be
repositioned either one over the other, to either side or down the centerline of the
press. One of the two ribbons is then compensated into the other for page-to-page
registration before passing over the press former board.
By stacking the ribbons, a number of common folds may be produced as well.

Standard Features:
• One hardened entrance driven roller equipped with four nip trolleys and one
pneumatic crush type slitter Ribbon Shifter, 1web in x 2 ribbons out
• Four 2/3 width angle bars, 2.125" (54mm) diameter installed on linear type “Standard Design”
bearings with kip handles for fast gross movement
• Ribbon angle bars are motorized with ± 1/4" (6mm) sidelay movement
• One ribbon page to page swing type motorized compensators
• Standard mechanical drive connection from standard drive pick-up point including
pin clutch to silence unit
• Standard support structure for installation at a proper elevation
• Symbology on electrical and pneumatic panels
• CE conformity

Remark: The full web must pass via the folder full cutoff linear compensator before entering the Ribbon Shifter, 1web in x 2 ribbons out

 PREFOLDER (PLOW FOLDER ) 

Introduction:
The GWF Plow Folder (prefolder) is designed for web presses up to 38” (965mm) wide
with combination folders, sheeters or rotary cutters.
The GWF Plow Folder (prefolder) is a single station plow folding assembly which installs
directly before the press folder, sheeter or rotary cutter, the web may be trimmed or slit
into ribbons. Two side by side plows folders are provided in order to fold one or both
edges of the web in either the plow up or plow down position
Immediately after the fold is formed it passes through the fold-holding rollers where it is
permanently held in place and creased. By plow folding before former folding, single and
double gate fold formats may be produced. Where plow folding before a sheeter or rotary
cutter will produce 4-page formats.

Standard Features:
• One hardened entrance driven roller equipped with four nip pneumatic trolleys and
three pneumatic crush type slitters
• A two stream plow arrangement to provide plow folds.
• Each arrangement has manual up/down, side to side plow movements.
• Each arrangement is equipped with a rotary plow and support rollers.
• A plow fold hold roller arrangement to complete the fold.
• Drive connection consisting of all necessary parts from a drive pick-up point to the
unit including a clutch to silence the unit.
• Standard support structure for installation at a proper elevation
• CE conformity

Optional:
• Motorized plow sidelay movement with ± ¾” (19mm) on the fly adjustment
• Remote for motorized movement
• Press station (entry/exit)
• Electrical Drive
• Symbology on electrical and pneumatic panels
