MODEC was responsible for the engineering, procurement,
construction, installation and commissioning of the FPSO,
including topsides processing equipment, hull and hull
systems, riser hang-offs and the SOFEC spread mooring
system. MODEC will operate the FPSO for Petrobras for the
next eight years, with four additional one-year option periods.

The FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro MV14 is 322 meters long,
58 meters wide and 29.5 meters tall. The FPSO has been
connected to nine subsea wells, five of which produce oil and
natural gas while the other four are used for water injection.

FPSO Stybarrow Venture MV16
MODEC executed the design, engineering, construction,
transportation and installation of the FPSO. MODEC’s
subsidiary, SOFEC, designed and built the disconnectable
internal turret. The disconnectable turret allows the FPSO to
easily evacuate when a cyclone approaches and then easily
reconnect when the storm has passed.

The FPSO Stybarrow MV16 is installed in Australia’s deepest
oil field development. J. Michael Yeager, BHP Billiton
Petroleum’s Chief Executive, said the Stybarrow development
is exceeding expectations. “The wells have ramped up to full
capacity in record time and the processing capability on the
vessel has been highly reliable,” he said. “We are very pleased
with the overall performance.”
