Mr. Shudhir Andrews in his speech to the students said that he finds such gatherings
very nostalgic where he remembers his students who too sat back in same awe,
amazement and dreams for a bright future. He said he could see a very bright future for
the budding Chefs and Managers for the Hospitality Industry in the crowd gathered
today. He gave a formula for success as his gift to the student fraternity and it is (FUN +
MASTERY + NETWORK).
If one enjoys what one does then the work is fun and with continuous effort and
experience comes Mastery. Good networking gets you the right job so one must never
lose an opportunity to network and an Ensemble like this would give everyone such a
golden
opportunity.
Mr Barun jolly was very glad to see such a great gathering. He was very enthusiastic
about this event which holds the magic of bringing the students fraternity close to one
another and makes this event a platform for the Industry to interact with the students. He
further in his speech said that one should not worry about finding a job in the Hospitality
Industry as there are very good times to come which will automatically initiate healthy
employment opportunities as the coming up Industry is also in need of qualified
professionals to mange their hotel properties. He concluded by saying that one should
not only look for a job but should endeavour to make their job into a lasting career.
The first competitive event of the day was Brain Twister which was a Hospitality Quiz
Competition. Twenty three teams participated in this event. The event comprised of four
rounds that had questions and visuals pertaining to the Hotel Operations and
Management. This Event was judged by eminent personalities from the Hospitality
Industry.
Brain Twister was followed by Hotel Design and Facility Planning Competition. The
various Sale Points of the Hotels like Coffee Shop, Hotel Kitchens, Reception, Guest
Rooms were planned by the students. The students were given a specific activity for
making a Site Plan and Layout plan based on architectural principals applicable to the
Hospitality Industry. The contestants planned the given facilities which were judged and
evaluated by the Judges from the Industry comprising of Executive Chef, Hotel
Consultants, F & B Director and Accommodation Manager from various Hotels and
Organisations.. Thirteen teams participated in this event. The Dessert Competition was
the next attraction where students made the most innovative desserts using Prunes.
Twenty one teams participated in this event. The kitchens were giving out the most
aromatic whiffs and at the precise time all the desserts were presented to the Chefs for
tasting in the Presentation Hall. The two Course Meal Competition was the next. The
students prepared starters and main course in most innovative ways. Twenty Five teams
participated in this event which was judged by the highly rated Chefs nominated from
different Hotels in Delhi.
The day's events concluded with the display of results at the LCD installed at the
Reception Area.
