Wider Learning Week 2017: Monday 09 – Friday 13 July


Year 8 Day-by-Day Itinerary

Wider Learning Week provides enriching learning experiences in familiar and new contexts.
Activities will challenge students and promote a wider understanding and independence. It is also
to reward students for their hard work this year. Please be aware that, for the duration of this
week, the school day will change - school will start at 8.45am and finish at 2.50pm. This is to
provide time for staff to set up these activities, and to allow students to register in their activity
groups. Below outlines the exact nature of the week for your son/ward.

On the following days students will rotate activities based on their House:

Key points:
 School Day starts 8.45am and finishes 2.50pm (3.30pm on the Natural History day and
approximately 4.30pm on the Thorpe Park trip day)
 Full school equipment is needed as normal
 Full school uniform, except when going to Thorpe Park
 Students are to wear PE kit (not games kit) on Healthy Choices day
 Packed lunch is needed for Thorpe Park and the Natural History museum (FSM
students will be provided with a packed lunch). Students may wish to bring money to
Thorpe Park at their own risk.

This form gives permission for your son/ward to attend the Wider Learning Week activities. The
deadline for completion is Friday 29 June.

We look forward to a rewarding week. Normal school standards and expectations apply; any
student not meeting these may be removed from Wider Learning Week activities to conduct work
independently. Please do not hesitate to contact me or the pastoral team if you have any
