Brandon gets out of bed and walks to the bedroom door.

INT. HALLWAY - SAME

Hey! Can y’all cut that shit down?
It’s like two-o-frack in the
morning!

He still hears nothing from them.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
Yo!

Nothing... Brandon keeps walking. There’s something written

in DARK RED on the wall. Brandon doesn’t see it, he keeps
walking.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
This is bullshit. Guys!

Suddenly, Brandon slips on something on the floor. He looks

down and sees a SOCK.
2.

Brandon shakes his head, then, he sees it. Brandon notices

the writing on the wall.

Written in large BLOOD STAINED LETTERS is “THANK YOU FOR

DINNER”.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
(semi-shocked)
T-This is a joke... Stop playing,
guys!

No one answers. That damn song is still playing. Brandon

starts running down stairs.

INT. THE CABIN’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

As Brandon reaches the bottom of the stairs, his face drops.

In front of him are TWO MUTILATED MALE BODIES of his friends.
BLOOD is everywhere!

Brandon can’t believe what he’s seeing as he walks over to

one of his dead friends.

BRANDON
(mumbles)
Chris...
(looks over at the other
body)
Dabbs.

Brandon panics, looking around the room for answers or

something to explain what’s going on here.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
M-Mike! Mike! Where are you?

Brandon sees a BLOODY TRAIL leading into the hallway. Brandon

hurries over to the fireplace and grabs a POKER.

He follows the trail.

INT. DOWNSTAIRS HALLWAY - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon carefully walks through the hallway. He grips the

poker tightly as he gets closer to the kitchen. Suddenly, we
hear CRUNCHING and SLURPING sounds.

INT. KITCHEN ENTRANCE - CONTINUOUS

him.
3.

SLOW MOTION: Brandon runs through the hallway. We see a

SHADOW rising from the kitchen entrance.

INT. CABIN LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

SLOW MOTION: Brandon’s running and then, falling. Brandon

stares at something in front of him. We can only see a
shadow. Quickly, Brandon swings the POKER at the THING, gets
up starts running.

INT. ANOTHER BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Brandon heads for the closet and hides.

INT. CLOSET

Frightened and anxious, Brandon holds on to the door knob. We

hear FOOTSTEPS walking in the room. Then, HUMMING of the song
‘Come On, Eileen’.

The DOOR KNOB starts to turn. The humming gets LOUDER as the
door SHAKES and RATTLES. Brandon holds on for dear life.

Then, it stops.

Brandon still holds on to the door knob. Suddenly, everything

around him goes silent.

CREEPY MALE VOICE (V.O.)

Hey... Hey you... I had fun
tonight. So much fun, man.

Brandon’s eyes widen as he stares at the door. Then, he hears

HEAVY BREATHING behind him. Brandon turns around sees GOLDEN
EYES staring at him.

CREEPY MALE VOICE

(calmly)
I ate their insides like cotton
candy.

Brandon screams, waking up his parents.

His mother, OLIVIA NUNLEY, African-American, 38, and Step-

Father, KARL NUNLEY, African-American, 42, get out of the
bed.

OLIVIA
Brandon!

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon’s parents quickly enter his room.

Brandon’s not there.

OLIVIA
Brandon! Where are you? Brandon!

KARL
Livie!

Karl points at the closet door.

Olivia looks over at the closet. The door is slightly open.

She walks over to the door and sees Brandon, curled up in a

ball, crying like a frightened child.

5.

EXT. MARION BUS STATION - AFTERNOON

A bus pulls up to AISLE 24 and makes a slow stop.

The bus door opens and several people get off.

Brandon steps off the bus and takes in his surroundings.

He sees a collection of TREES and a sea of GREEN GRASS. The

buildings are old, stony, and the sidewalks are like webs
across the area. He’s definitely in the South.

BEVERLY “NANA” HANKS, 58, African-American, caring and MARY

TREK, 34, African-American ,stoic, are standing outside the
bus station lobby, smiling and waving.

Brandon starts walking towards them.

Nana briskly jaunts to Brandon and hugs him tightly.

Mary also hugs Brandon, but not as long.

NANA
Look at you! You look so good! So
handsome, just like your Daddy.

Nana hugs him again.

Brandon looks at Mary with an ‘oh my’ face.

Mary shrugs and smiles at him.

INT. MARY’S CAR - MOMENTS LATER - AFTERNOON

Nana and Mary are in the front seat and Brandon’s in the
back.

He’s staring out the window, looking at the farmhouses and

colossal trees.

Nana turns towards Brandon.

NANA
(exhilarated)
Your boxes got in just fine, and
don’t worry about a job. You can
work at our diner. You can start
tomorrow if you like.

MARY
Or in a couple of days, whatever
works for you, Brandon.
6.

NANA
(smiling)
Or in a couple of days.

Mary nods.

MARY
You may need some time to get used
to the country. It’s a far cry from
that noisy Chicago.

NANA
Mary, he’s been here before?

BRANDON
I was eight then, Nana.

NANA
Well, that wasn’t too long ago.

Brandon smiles as Mary shakes her head.

EXT. THE WOODS IN MARION - MOMENTS LATER

Three hunters in the mid-20s are slowly walking through the

woods, sticking close together.

ERIC leads the others guys, MARK and SAM. He looks

determined, his eyes are completely focused forward.

SAM
Are you sure you saw it, Eric?

ERIC
Shut up, you dipstick! I saw the
white doe!

MARK
Look who’s shoutin’ now.

Eric looks back scathingly at Mark and then he turns away.

The men continue to walk through the woods.

ERIC
My Granny used to say a white doe
is special-- magical.

Sam and Mark snickers like little girls.

ERIC (CONT’D)
Fuck the both of you. When we---
7.

Suddenly, the WHITE DOE runs by the guys.

Sam is startled and Mark reaches for his rifle. But Eric is
ready.

He grins, quickly grabs his rifle and takes off, leaving the
others behind.

SAM
Hey, wait!

EXT. THE WOODS IN MARION - CONTINUOUS

Eric runs through the woods chasing the doe.

The doe glides through the bushes like it’s the wind.
However, Eric is keeping up.

The doe vanishes behind several bushes.

Eric slows down and begins to carefully stalk the doe.

He sees the doe through the bushes, looking away from Eric.

A shit-eating grin appears on his face as he points the gun

at the doe.

ERIC
(whispers)
I got you now. I got ya.

As Eric tightens his grip on the trigger...

JACKSON (V.O.)
Put the gun down.

Eric has a hazed look about him.

He lowers his gun and stares vacantly into the bushes.

The doe watches Eric curiously.

JACKSON (V.O.)
Leave and take the others with you.

Eric turns around and runs away.

8.

EXT. IN A TREE - CONTINUOUS

JACKSON GARRETT, 19, racially-ambiguous, lightsome, watches

Eric leaves the scene. He’s standing on a thick branch,
shirtless, barefoot and wild looking.

EXT. THE WOODS IN MARION - CONTINUOUS

Jackson jumps down from the tree and walks over to the doe.

Jackson pats the doe and smiles.

JACKSON
(strong Southern accent)
Look at you, huh? Causin’ trouble.

Jackson squats down to look into the eyes of the doe.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
You need stay away from here for
awhile.

The doe nuzzles its head on Jackson’s cheek and runs off.

Jackson stands up and watches as the doe vanishes into the

woods.

EXT. NANA’S HOME - AFTERNOON

Mary pulls up to a nice two story home in the middle of the

woods.

Brandon gets out and stares at the house.

BRANDON
It’s exactly how I remembered it,
Nana.

Nana joins him.

NANA
Just a few minor changes, but yes,
it’s the same old house.
9.

INT. NANA’S HOME/LIVING ROOM - AFTERNOON

They enter the house. Brandon grins at some of the PICTURES

on the walls. The living room has a huge couch and plush
chairs. There are FLOWERS in the middle of the TABLE.

NANA
Your room’s upstairs, Brandon. It
was your Daddy’s room.

Brandon nods and starts heading for the stairs.

INT. BRANDON’S NEW ROOM - CONTINUOUS

The room has bare walls, there is a fully made queen bed, a
dresser, night stand, a sofa chair and chest next to the bed.
There are several BOXES in the corner of the room. The boxes
are marked with FRAGILE and EXPRESS MAIL.

Nana, Mary and Brandon walk into the room.

Mary sets Brandon’s messenger bag down and turns to Brandon.

Nana steps forward and places her hand on Brandon’s shoulder.

NANA
Now Brandon, I know you’ve been
through a lot over the past year.
Your mama and I hope being here
will do you some good.

Mary nods.

MARY
(directly)
We don’t think you’re crazy,
Brandon.

Nana sighs.

NANA
No, we don’t. You just need time
heal and move forward.
(Nana grabs Brandon’s
hands)
And we’ll help you any and every
way we can.

Brandon looks down and then, stares at both of them.

Brandon slowly smiles and nods.

10.

BRANDON
Thank you, Nana... Aunt Mary.

She hugs him.

Nana and Mary leave the room.

Brandon looks around the room and grabs his messenger bag.

Brandon pulls out his JOURNAL and a PEN. Brandon starts

writing.

BEGIN MONTAGE:

BRANDON (V.O.) (CONT’D)

Welcome to Marion, South Carolina.
Paradise in the middle of nowhere,
and my last ditch effort to get
better.

Brandon starts unpacking his things, slowly taking items out

of the boxes and setting them down on the floor.

Brandon organizes his BOOKS on the bookshelf.

Brandon puts his COMIC BOOKS in stacks.

Brandon folds his shirts.

BRANDON (V.O.) (CONT’D)

Everyone thinks being here will
help me process everything that
happened last year.

SUDDENLY A SERIES OF FLASHES:

Brandon on the floor, waking up, covered in blood.

Brandon seeing his friends dead, BLOODY and BUTCHERED.

Brandon in shock.

Brandon seeing a HUGE FIGURE staring at him with GLOWING

GOLDEN EYES.

FLASHES ARE OVER

Brandon stares off in the distance, holding his JEANS in his

arms.
11.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I can’t remember much. All I have
are these nightmares and broken
memories. I honestly don’t know
what’s real and what’s not.

Brandon puts his MEDICATION/ANTI-DEPRESSANTS in the drawer of

the night stand.

BRANDON (V.O.)
They thought I was going crazy,
seeing things, hearing voices. Mama
didn’t know to do anymore. Luckily,
Nana stepped in before things got
worse.

Brandon puts his FURRY MONSTER doll on the middle of his bed.

Brandon puts a framed picture of him and his friends on the

night stand.

BRANDON (V.O.)
She believes I will get better
here.

Brandon stares deeply at the picture.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I pray she’s right, because I don’t
have any other options. Either get
it together or bust. I’m hoping for
getting it together.

END MONTAGE:

Brandon finishes writing in his journal.

Brandon sits back and looks at the room.

12.

INT. THE KITCHEN - NIGHT

Brandon and Nana are washing and drying the dishes.

Brandon cleans the last plate and hands it to Nana.

BRANDON
Nana, I have to say that dinner was
lit.

NANA
Lit... Well, thank you, baby. I’m
glad you liked it. How’s your room?

BRANDON
Nice and cozy. I’ll probably put
some posters up soon, you know,
make it more my own.

NANA
Good. Dress it up anyway you
please.... Oh, before I forget, can
you take the scraps out to the
compost shed?

BRANDON
Sure, where’s the shed?

EXT. THE WOODS - NIGHT

Brandon is walking on a dirt path with a FLASHLIGHT and a

BAG.

Sounds of CRICKETS and a light breeze moves the leaves. The

TREE BRANCHES look like a bunch of claws towering over
Brandon.

Brandon holds the flashlight like a sword, looking around him

with every step.

BRANDON
I should’ve known this shed would
be located in some haunted forest
shit.

Suddenly, he hears WATER SPLASHING.

Brandon stops and flashes the light ahead of him. He starts

walking forward.

He points the flashlight at the water as he gets closer.

13.

As he steps through some bushes, Brandon loses his footing

and tumbles down the small hill.

EXT. DOWNSIDE ON THE HILL - CONTINUOUS

Brandon slips down the hill.

He’s still holding on to the flashlight and the garbage bag.

In seconds, he reaches flat ground.

Brandon sits up and looks over himself.

BRANDON
(laughs at himself)
Shit.

Suddenly, someone rises from the water.

It’s Jackson. He swings his dark hair out of his face and
swims towards Brandon.

Brandon quickly stands up with the flashlight in hand.

Jackson notices Brandon and smiles.

JACKSON
(pointing at shorts)
Could you hand me my shorts over
there?

BRANDON
Um, sure.

Brandon walks over to get the shorts.

Jackson gets out of the lake, naked, and walks towards

Brandon.

Brandon turns around and sees Jackson’s naked body.

Brandon’s a little embarrassed, but plays it off. He hands

Jackson the shorts and turns away.

Jackson slips on his shorts and walks up to Brandon.

JACKSON
(casually)
I’m Jackson and you’re...

Brandon quickly turns around and sees Jackson extends his

hand.
14.

BRANDON
(shaking his hand)
Brandon... I’m not from around
here.

Jackson smiles at the awkward statement.

JACKSON
I can tell, you have an city accent
and I ain’t never seen you around.

A little laugh escapes Brandon’s lips.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
(smiles back)
What?

BRANDON
Nothing, it’s just... I guess, I’m
really in the South now.

JACKSON
Where you from?

BRANDON
(sounding so awkward)
Chicago. I just moved here earlier
today.

JACKSON
So, where do you live now, Brandon
from Chicago?

BRANDON
(points to his left)
With my Grandmother and Aunt over
there.

Jackson nods.

JACKSON
Oh, with Miss Beverly? She’s real
nice.
(beat)
I live up around there...
(points forward)
In the far side of the woods.

Brandon looks over at the cluster of trees where Jackson

points.
15.

BRANDON
Whoa, that deep in the woods?
That’s way creepy, dude.

JACKSON
No it ain’t. It’s beautiful out
here.

BRANDON
Beautiful? Okay... You don’t worry
about something attacking you?

JACKSON
(laughs)
Not really, maybe raccoons.

BRANDON
Raccoons... Good to know.
(beat)
I should get back.

JACKSON
I’ll join you.

EXT. ON THE PATH - NIGHT

Brandon and Jackson reach the path.

BRANDON
It was nice meeting you, Jackson.

Brandon puts his hand out to Jackson.

Jackson shakes slowly and firmly.

JACKSON
Nice to meet you too. I’ll probably
see you around.

Brandon smiles and leaves.

Jackson watches him as he walks off.

16.

INT. THE KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER

Nana is putting the dishes into the cabinets.

Brandon enters through the back door.

NANA
I assumed you found the shed.

BRANDON
Um, yeah... Nana, do you know a guy
named Jackson?

Nana takes a seat at the kitchen table.

NANA
Oh, Jackson Garrett, Kenneth’s son.
He’s very nice, always polite to me
when I see him.

Brandon joins Nana at the kitchen table. Listening very

closely to her.

BRANDON
He seems cool.

NANA
Well, you should get to know him.
I’m sure he can show you some fun
things to do in town.

BRANDON
We’ll see, Nana.

Nana gives him a knowing smile.

INT. SOCK HOP - MID MORNING

The colorful diner has several people sitting in the booths

and tables EATING and TALKING.

The walls have old MOTOWN POSTERS and PICTURES OF FAMOUS

MOTOWN SINGERS.

There are a couple of servers walking around with coffee pots

and plates.

Mary and BLESSING JAMES, African-American, 22, zaftig and

fabulous, are standing behind the counter, talking about the
LIST of items Mary is holding.

Brandon walks into the diner.

17.

Mary waves and MOTIONS for Brandon to come over.

MARY
What are you doin’ here, you didn’t
have to come in today.

BRANDON
I wanted check everything out. You
know, see the sites and the frills.

BLESSING
Well, you ain’t got much to see.
Marion’s about the size of two
county fairs.

MARY
(laughs)
Blessing, meet my nephew, Brandon.
He’s going to be livin’ with me and
mama now.

Blessing and Brandon shake hands.

BLESSING
Are you hungry?

Brandon nods ‘yes’.

BLESSING (CONT’D)
Sit down, Brandon. You’re about to
get a bomb ass breakfast.

Brandon takes a seat at the counter.

Suddenly, ABBY FISHER, White, 21, comes rushing inside the

diner.

MARY
Abby, you’re--

ABBY
I know, Mary. I know. I had to get
Mama to drop me off.

Abby briskly walks in the back room and comes back with an
apron.

She joins Blessing next to the grill.

ABBY (CONT’D)
I just broke up with Aaron.
18.

BLESSING
Ah, so you left the boyfriend of
the year?

Abby nods at Blessing.

ABBY
Mama helped me put his stuff out
this morning. That’s why I’m late,
Mary.

MARY
Well, lucky for you it was a small
crowd. Blessing and Rob, handled
it.

Abby looks over at Blessing.

ABBY
Thanks for covering for me.

Blessing winks and pulls out a carton of eggs.

MARY
(stern)
Just don’t make this a habit, girl.
I depend on all of y’all to keep
this place running.

BLESSING
I can’t believe you finally broke
up with him. But if Aaron starts
clownin’, let me know. Squeaky and
I--

MARY
Okay, not here.
(sternly)
Abby, get everything ready for the
lunch run.

Abby nods and heads towards the back room. Mary shakes her
head and looks at Blessing.

Blessing shrugs and grabs a couple of EGGS.

BRANDON
So, I see the diner is a poppin’.

Blessing cracks the eggs in a BOWL.

BLESSING
Poppin’ like pills, especially with
that crazy girl, Abby.
19.

Then, Abby comes back with a BOX of SUGAR PACKETS.

ABBY
What?

BLESSING
Nothing, girl... this is Mary’s
nephew, Brandon.

Abby pauses and extends her hand.

ABBY
Hey Brandon, Mary said you were
coming here... Welcome.

BRANDON
Thanks.

BLESSING
Abby’s my partner in crime. But
she’s more trouble than a partner.

ABBY
Whatever, I’m still a growing girl.
(smiles at Brandon)
Gotta make mistakes in order to
learn from them, right?

BLESSING
Oh, Lord.

EXT. MARION CITY SQUARE - LATE MORNING

Walking around the city square, Brandon sees a sign for IRV’S
COMICS.

He smiles and quickly walks over to the little store.

20.

EXT. IRV’S COMICS - CONTINUOUS

IRV’S COMICS is an old school comic book shop. It is filled

with BOXES of COMICS. POSTERS of SUPERHEROES OF WALLS AND
DISPLAYS OF TOY SHIPS of ACTION FIGURES in the corners of the
shop. The counter has assorted CANDIES and CIGARETTES.

A few people are shopping around in the store.

Brandon walks over and starts looking in a box marked,

BARGAINS.

Brandon pulls out a couple of comics.

Jackson comes from the opposite side of the room.

Jackson walks up behind Brandon and leans carefully towards

his left ear.

JACKSON
You like comics?

BRANDON
(gasps)
Holy Shit!

JACKSON
No, my name is Jackson, remember?

Brandon slowly smiles.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
I wasn’t trying to scare you. I
just wanted to say hi... Hi.

BRANDON
(grins)
Hi, Creepy McCreeperson.

Jackson playfully waves and takes the comics out of Brandon’s

hand.

JACKSON
(looking through the
comics)
I see... heroes, cyborgs... You
must really fantasy stories.

Brandon takes the comics back from Jackson.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
So, what brings you out from the
scary woods?
21.

Brandon shrugs.

BRANDON
Exploring.

JACKSON
Well, you can’t do that without a
guide.

BRANDON
Oh really?

JACKSON
Really. Let me show you around
South Carolina’s finest town.

Brandon laughs.

EXT. MARION CITY PARK - AFTERNOON

Jackson and Brandon walk through the park. Jackson has a

stick in his hand, loosely swinging it.

BRANDON
So, what’s life like in Marion?

JACKSON
Quiet.

BRANDON
That’s all you have to say about
your hometown?

JACKSON
Not my hometown, it’s my Dad’s. We
moved here from Orlando a few years
ago. He met my mom here.

BRANDON
Cool.

JACKSON
What do you think about Marion so
far?

BRANDON
So far, it’s nice... Creepy at
night, but it’s cool.

JACKSON
(laughs)
I think you’ll like it here.
22.

JACKSON (CONT'D)
Town’s full of good people and
nothing crazy really happens.

As the two guys continue walking, a large dirty TRUCK drives

by. The engine RUMBLES like thunder over the area.

AARON THOMAS, 25, White, burly, sticks his head out the
window. Inside the truck is his buddies.

They all look directly at Jackson and Brandon.

AARON
Hey faggot! Hey, you hear me!

The guys LAUGH and POINT at Brandon and Jackson.

Brandon walks forward.

BRANDON
(angry)
You got a problem, inbreed?

Aaron smirks and drives off.

JACKSON
Forget it, Brandon. He ain’t worth
it.

BRANDON
What an asshole! He doesn’t even
know me and--

JACKSON
He was actually talking to me.

Brandon is a little shocked.

BRANDON
To you?

Jackson nods.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
What’s up with you and him?

JACKSON
(laughs)
Aaron? We crossed paths in the
past. He’s always doin’ something
stupid.
23.

BRANDON
Judging by the redness of his neck,
you should watch your back.

JACKSON
(teasing)
Aw, you lookin’ out for me?

BRANDON
(slightly blushing)
I’m just saying a guy like that
looks like trouble. You should
watch your back.

JACKSON
I ain’t worried. I’ve handled
worse.

Brandon looks at Jackson.

BRANDON
Oh, okay.

JACKSON
The stories I could tell you.

Just then, a loud DING, DONG rings across town. The TOWN HALL
TOWER BELL goes off.

Brandon looks up and then at his phone.

BRANDON
Shit! I told Nana I would meet her
for lunch! I hate to cut and run--

JACKSON
No worries. I know how to find you.

They share a brief moment, Brandon can’t help but to wonder

if Jackson is flirting with him.

BRANDON
Well, see you later.

JACKSON
Soon.

Brandon smiles and turns away; Jackson watches him walk off.
24.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - LATE NIGHT

Brandon sits in the love seat, writing in his journal.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Day two in Marion and all you can
hear is crickets and frogs
screwing. This town is such a
cliché, like, in the Heat of the
Night cliche. It’s going to take
some time to get used to this.

Brandon stops for second and grins.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Okay, I need to chill. It’s not
that bad. Especially with this
Jackson guy. He’s like a real life
Tom Sawyer, charming, funny...
Cute. Actually, HOT! His body is
sickening... I shouldn’t be
crushing on him. I don’t even know
if he’s gay. However, he has been a
great distraction from...

Brandon looks away, somewhat sad.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I shouldn’t say it like that. I
can’t dismiss what happened.

Brandon looks at the picture of his friends.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Sometimes, I wonder why was I
spared? How did I survived?

Brandon looks out the window, watching the TREES sway eerily
in a circular motion.
25.

INT. MARTIN’S TRAILER HOME - EARLY EVENING

MALFORD, NEW YORK

MARTIN SENER, 45, psychic, sits at his table reading TAROT

CARDS. He looks confused as he lays the cards down in front
of him.

Martin gathers the cards and shuffles them again.

Suddenly, there is a KNOCK on the door.

MARTIN
Enter, please!

The door OPENS and PATRICK, White, 20, lean and apprehensive
walks in.

Martin sees that Patrick is nervous, so he stands up to greet

him.

MARTIN (CONT’D)
Don’t be scared of me, boy. I don’t
bite.

Patrick thinly smiles and walks over to Martin’s table.

PATRICK
(nervously)
You’re a seer, right?

MARTIN
You can call me that, or psychic.
(points down)
Sit down.

Patrick sits down in front of Martin.

Very quickly and awkwardly, Patrick places his hands, palms

up on the table.

Martin sighs and looks at Patrick.

PATRICK
I thought... I didn’t mean to
offend you if I did, I--

MARTIN
Easy now, boy. This is a painless
thing. Just relax and let me help
you.

Patrick relaxes and Martin places his hands above his.

26.

Martin closes his eyes and begins his psychic reading.

MARTIN (CONT’D)
You’re searching for someone...
(beat)
He, yes... He has caused you pain,
loss... But you love him.

PATRICK
Yes sir, he’s like a brother.

Martin continues to read him.

He lowers his hands onto Patrick’s hands. The second they

touch, Martin straightens up in his seat.

Then, Martin opens his eyes and moves his hands away from
Patrick’s hands.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
(anxious)
What did you see?

MARTIN
You won’t find him.
(beat)
He don’t want to be found.

Patrick angrily shakes his head.

PATRICK
I will find him. He’s very
important to me.

Martin moves his hands under the table, keeping his eyes on
Patrick.

MARTIN
Your light is all wrong. Violent,
madness... What did you do?

Patrick’s boyish features cracks and a dark smile appears on

his face.

PATRICK
So many things, Martin. So many
things.

Martin jumps up and holds a GUN in his hand.

Patrick just calmly sits and watches him.

27.

MARTIN
I should’ve sensed you earlier.
(points the gun at
Patrick)
You’re not... Not normal.

PATRICK
You’re right! I’m something else.

MARTIN
(sweating)
I’ll use this, I-I’m warning you!

Patrick stands and moves towards Martin.

Martin’s hand tightens on the trigger. He is determined to

stay alive.

Then...

PATRICK (V.O.)
Sit

Martin sits. He is under the control of Patrick.

PATRICK
Martin, Martin, Martin. Your
psychic abilities are strong, but
not strong enough.

Martin struggles to break free, but he can’t. Patrick’s

abilities are stronger, however he breaks through a little.

MARTIN
(straining voice)
You’re broken... You reek of
darkness.

PATRICK
(mockingly)
Yeah, yeah I’m fucked up. All I see
are nightmares and horrors.

Patrick sits down in front of Martin, looking dead into his

eyes.

MARTIN
What do you want from me?

PATRICK
(infuriated)
I want to find Jackson, rot sack! I
want him to come home, and see what
I’ve done for us.
28.

PATRICK (CONT'D)
That’s what I want!
(then smiling)
But from you, Martin. What I want
from you...

Then, Patrick places his hand; his darken, thin and CLAWED
hand on Martin’s face. Martin’s eyes widen in fear.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Your eyes.
29.

INT. SOCK HOP’S OFFICE SPACE - NEXT AFTERNOON

Brandon checks an inventory list, adding the prices up on a

large CALCULATOR and writes the results in a notebook.

Mary walks in.

MARY
I hope I didn’t give you a mess to
deal with. I figure since you’re
good with numbers, you could double
check my books.

BRANDON
It’s no problem, but they make
computer programs for stuff like
this, y’know.

MARY
I only use computers for the news,
bloggin’, and datin’.

BRANDON
(grins)
Aunt Mary...

MARY
And why would I get a computer
program, when my nephew can do the
work, right?

Brandon shakes his head over Mary’s comment.

BRANDON
Right.

Mary looks at her watch.

MARY
Okay, I got errands to run before
five. Mama and I’ll be in Clover
City for Bingo. We’ll be back late
tonight. If you need me, call me.

BRANDON
I will, but I think I got it.

MARY
Good, but again, call me if y’all
need something.

Brandon nods and Mary leaves.

30.

INT. SOCK HOP’S MAIN FLOOR - SEVERAL HOURS LATER - NIGHT

Brandon sits down in a booth with a plate of a BURGER and

FRIES. He starts eating.

One of the workers turns the OPEN sign over to CLOSE and
locks the door.

Blessing walks up to Brandon with a large SHAKE in her hand.

BLESSING
Boy, I’m done, done like a burnt
turkey.

BRANDON
Yeah, it was a long day.

Blessing smiles and sits down in front of Brandon.

BLESSING
I hope the burger’s good.

BRANDON
It is. I see why this place stays
busy.

BLESSING
Thanks, babe. So, what do you think
of Marion?

BRANDON
It’s growing on me, but y’all need
strong WiFi though. I can’t
download anything illegal down
here.

They both laugh.

BLESSING
I feel you. I came from Memphis.
My cousin, Squeaky, told me I had
to live here ‘cuz it’s quiet and no
drama.

Blessing takes a drink of her shake.

BLESSING (CONT’D)
It’s a good place to come to get
your life right.

BRANDON
I hope so, Blessing.
31.

BLESSING
Really? And what are you trying to
get right in your life, boo?

BRANDON
Everything.

BLESSING
Well, if that’s the case, you might
wanna think twice about hanging
around Jackson Garrett.

BRANDON
What?

BLESSING
The streets are talkin’. Saying you
two are getting it in. What’s goin’
on there?

BRANDON
Nothing, I mean... He’s just a guy.

BLESSING
Hey, we’re family up in here. You
can tell me.

BRANDON
Oh... Well, he’s cute, hot
actually. But, I don’t really know
him. Is he cool?

BLESSING
He’s weird.

Suddenly, bright lights FLASH through the windows of the Sock

Hop.

It’s Aaron. His loud engine GROWLS as a truck pulls up.

He starts BLOWING his horn.

Blessing looks out of the window and her eyes widen.

BLESSING (CONT’D)
Shit! It’s Aaron. Abby!

Abby walks out to the main floor.

Aaron gets out of the truck and walks towards the door.

ABBY
Fuck!
32.

Aaron presses his face against the glass. He looks deranged

and drunk.

AARON
Abby! Abby! Why you acting like
this, bitch!

ABBY
Get out of here!

AARON
Abby! Where am I gonna live? You
better let me back in!

Blessing joins Abby and stands in front of her.

Brandon gets up and walks closer to the door.

Aaron starts BEATING on the glass door wildly.

AARON (CONT’D)
Stop fucking with me!

BLESSING
I’m calling the police.

Blessing pulls out her phone.

Brandon faces Aaron through the glass door.

BRANDON
(through the glass)
What’s your problem?

AARON
Get out of my face! I can give two
shits about you! Abby!

BRANDON
She doesn’t want your redneck ass,
you dick!

AARON
Stay out this, fucker! If I see you
outside I’ll--
33.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE SOCK HOP - CONTINUOUS

Jackson walks up behind Aaron.

Through the glass door, Brandon notices how different Jackson

appears.

JACKSON
Go home, Aaron.

Aaron drunkenly turns around. He smiles and readies himself

for a fight.

AARON
I was hoping to see your candy ass
soon. I guess this is my lucky
night.

JACKSON
You don’t want to do this.

AARON
(grinning)
Dead wrong, faggot!

Aaron swings at Jackson.

With lighting speed, Jackson grabs his arm and THROWS Aaron
into the front of his truck.

Aaron struggles to get up.

Aaron turns to Jackson, with a bruised face and bloody nose.

Jackson stares at Aaron intensely.

JACKSON (V.O.)
I’m asking you to stop now!

Aaron hears Jackson’s voice in his head. He realizes that

Jackson’s mouth didn’t move.

AARON
What d-did you say? You didn’t say--

Suddenly, sounds of SIRENS fill the night. A POLICE CAR

drives up in front of the Sock Hop.

Brandon unlocks the door and steps out of the diner.

Brandon joins Jackson as the two OFFICERS get out of the car.

Blessing walks towards the officers.

34.

OFFICER 1
Blessing, what’s going on?

BLESSING
Aaron.

OFFICER 1
Figures. Get up!

AARON
Fuck you!

OFFICER 1
Cuff him!

The second Officer forces Aaron up and cuffs him.

Brandon turns to Jackson.

Jackson slowly smiles.

The officers PUSH Aaron into the car.

Abby joins the others outside, she stands next to Blessing.

Aaron SNEERS at Jackson and Brandon as the cop car drives

off.

EXT. A DIRT ROAD - SEVERAL MINUTES LATER - NIGHT

Jackson and Brandon are walking side by side. The night is

very quiet and calm.

BRANDON
It’s a good thing you were around.
No telling what Aaron would’ve
done.

JACKSON
Yeah, he’s such a stupid son of a
bitch.

BRANDON
(nodding)
And poor Abby. I wonder if she knew
he was such a dick?

JACKSON
Do you really know anyone?

BRANDON
True...
(beat)
35.

BRANDON (CONT'D)
Aaron kept calling you a faggot. He
keeps saying that to you.

JACKSON
Does it bother you?

BRANDON
Does it bother you?

JACKSON
(pause)
I don’t like it. It can be hurtful
sometimes.

BRANDON
It can be... Look Jackson, if
you’re going to be a friend. You
need to know that I’m gay. I know
folks down here can be all--

JACKSON
I know, Brandon.
(smiles)
If it helps, I’ll let you in on a
little secret.

Jackson leans closer to Brandon.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
I like guys, too.

Brandon nervously, but shyly smiles.

BRANDON
How did you? I mean, it doesn’t
matter, I... Did my Aunt talk to
you too?

JACKSON
(laughs)
No, no. I knew the first night I
met you.

BRANDON
Hey, would you like to come over?
My grandmother and aunt are out
and, well, if you don’t mind.

JACKSON
(smiles)
Sure, that’s cool.
36.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - NIGHT

Brandon sits on his bed.

Jackson stands in the middle of the room, looking around.

BRANDON
I was thinking about raiding Irv’s
Comics for those old Sci-fi movie
posters. I just hope Nana doesn’t
freak out or something.

Jackson sees a journal on the night stand.

JACKSON
What’s that?

Brandon looks over at the journal.

BRANDON
That’s my journal. I’ve been
writing in it for a few months.
Helps me sort out my thoughts.

JACKSON
Maybe I should get one of those
journals. I got lots of stuff
trapped in my head.

Jackson joins him on the bed. He picks up the FURRY MONSTER

doll.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
And who’s this?

BRANDON
(smiles)
That’s Fern. He’s my buddy and
therapist.

Jackson smiles as he examines Fern.

JACKSON
It’s good to have a buddy like
that.

Brandon nods.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
So, tell me about the day you came
out.
37.

BRANDON
(sighs)
You’re full of questions tonight.

JACKSON
Hey, you invited me in.

Brandon sits back.

BRANDON
I did... Well, I came out in my
senior year of high school. My Mom
and friends was cool about it. Took
my Step-Dad some time to warm over
though.

JACKSON
Is your real Dad around?

BRANDON
No, he died some years ago.

JACKSON
How did you end up here?

BRANDON
(beat)
That’s another story for another
time.

JACKSON
It’s personal, right?

Brandon nods.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Cool, another time then.

BRANDON
So, it’s your turn to spill. What’s
your ethnic background?

JACKSON
Well, it’s a handful. My Dad’s
white, but my mom was a lot things.

BRANDON
Like...

JACKSON
Um... Greek, Venezuelan, some Trini
and Indian.
38.

BRANDON
Cool... Does your Dad know about
you?

JACKSON
Yep, he’s good with me, he just
doesn’t want me to do porn or
strippin’.

They both laugh.

BRANDON
I think it’s cool your Dad is
supportive of you.

JACKSON
I think it’s cool you’re here in
Marion.

Jackson looks directly at Brandon.

Brandon blushes.

BRANDON
Really? Why?

JACKSON
I like being around you.

BRANDON
Same here... I like you too.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
(embarrassed)
I mean, uh, I like hanging with
you, umm, fuck.

Jackson flashes that cocky grin of his as he scoots closer to

Brandon.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
I... I’m going to shut up now.

JACKSON
I like you too.

Brandon smiles from ear to ear.

39.

EXT. NANA’S SOUTHERN COTTAGE - SEVERAL MINUTES LATER -NIGHT

Brandon walks Jackson to the end of the fence.

Jackson turns around to face Brandon.

JACKSON
So, what you doing tomorrow?

BRANDON
I don’t know, I’ll probably hang
out at the Sock Hop.

JACKSON
Naw, you’re hangin’ with me
tomorrow.

BRANDON
Oh, I guess I’m doing that then.

JACKSON
Good, I can stop by after I’m done
working. Like around two?

BRANDON
Okay.

The two boys awkwardly look at each other.

JACKSON
See you tomorrow, Brandon.

BRANDON
Tomorrow.

Jackson starts to walk off and waves.

Brandon stands there confused, surprised, and excited.

40.

EXT. SOME PSYCHIC’S HOME - MIDNIGHT

Patrick sits at a table with a BLACK BAG in his hand. In the

other hand, are TWO BLOODY EYE BALLS.

He places the eyes and the bag on the table. Also on the
table is a JAR of RED SAND.

Patrick draws a circle with the sand on the table. Then, he

opens the bag and pours out EIGHT EYEBALLS in the middle of
the circle.

Patrick smiles.

He places the eyeballs in different positions in the circle.

PATRICK
Os olhos dos seers, encontram seu
heart' desejo de s (translate in
English - eyes of seers, find my
heart's desire)

The EYEBALLS begin to move around in the red sand. The

process is slow at first, but then, it speeds up. The
eyeballs GLOW and look directly at him.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Encontre-o! (find it)

The eyeballs project a SINGLE LIGHT into his eyes.

Patrick takes it all in.

The glow fades, and Patrick laughs.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
I know where you are, little
brother. I know where you are!

Patrick turns around and looks at the DEAD PSYCHIC named

SANDRA ANN, slumped in the love seat. The body’s face is
mauled, and the eye sockets are hollowed out.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Thank you so much Sandra Ann,
couldn’t have done this without
you.
41.

INT. JACKSON’S HOME/KITCHEN - MORNING

KEN GARRETT, White 38, handsome and worn, is eating breakfast

at the dinner table.

Jackson walks in with a pep in his step.

Ken notices and smiles.

Jackson reaches in the cabinet and pulls out a BOWL and then
heads to the REFRIGERATOR.

KEN
You’re up early. What’s with the
pep?

Jackson sits down at the table. He pours CEREAL and MILK in

the bowl.

JACKSON
It’s not early, it’s nine, and what
pep you’re talking about?

KEN
Nine is early for you.

JACKSON
Not really... I got to get over to
Brighten’s Mill.

Ken smirks.

KEN
You met someone. I can tell.

JACKSON
How?

KEN
Because, I can tell.

Jackson smiles as he stuffs a spoonful of cereal in his

mouth.

KEN (CONT’D)
(beat)
You have to be careful about this,
Jackson. You know that.
42.

JACKSON
I know, Dad. You don’t have to
remind me.

KEN
It’s been very quiet for the past
five years.

JACKSON
Dad, Brandon’s cool. He’s human.

KEN
Brandon, that’s his name, huh?

JACKSON
He just moved here from Chicago.
He’s Miss Beverly’s grandson.

Ken leans in.

KEN
(very fatherly)
I don’t want to be pain in the ass,
but just humor an old man here,
okay? This kid has no idea about
what you are and what you can do.

JACKSON
He doesn’t need to know. It’s not
like I run around here using my
powers.

Ken presses his lips.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Well, all the time.

KEN
I just need for you to be aware,
Jackson.

JACKSON
Dad, we’re safe. The spell around
here is strong; has been for years.
So, don’t worry.

KEN
I’m just keeping your head
straight.

JACKSON
Don’t freak out. He’s just a
friend, Dad. Just a friend.
43.

KEN
(not believing him)
Okay, kid. He’s just a friend.

INT. SOCK HOP’S OFFICE SPACE - AFTERNOON

Blessing and Brandon are stuffing napkin holders.

BRANDON
How’s Abby?

BLESSING
She’s good. She used to Aaron’s
tomfoolery.

BRANDON
Blessing... The other day, you said
that Jackson’s weird. Why?

BLESSING
Well, I’m not the one to spread
rumors, but Jackson’s a creeper.

BRANDON
A creeper? How?

BLESSING
He has no friends, folks seen him
roaming the streets late at night,
and his Dad keeps him hidden in
that creepy house out in the woods.

BRANDON
I live out in the woods too. What’s
the big deal?

BLESSING
Look, he’s like a stranger. No one
really knows him. You’re the first
person I know who actually talked
to him for more than a minute.

BRANDON
He’s cool.

BLESSING
You’re sweet on him.

BRANDON
Stop, I’m---
44.

BLESSING
Sweet on him. You keep bringing him
up. Just admit it.

BRANDON
Blessing...

BLESSING
Is he gay?

BRANDON
Yeah.

BLESSING
You’re sweet on him.

Abby walks into the office.

She sees Brandon and Blessing, and joins them.

ABBY
What’s up people?

BLESSING
Nothing much, how are you?

ABBY
Better... Aaron has to be a hundred
feet away from me, and he’s got
probation and road clean-up.

BRANDON
Does he follows the rules? He
doesn’t look like the one who
follows the rules.

ABBY
He knows better. Aaron don’t want
jail time, so he’ll play nice.

BLESSING
He better, or Jackson’s going to
beat that ass again!

ABBY
Y’know what? I’ve never seen
Jackson up close before. Is he
mixed?

Brandon gives Abby a “What do you know about ‘mixed’ White

girl” look.

BRANDON
He’s multi-ethnic.
45.

BLESSING
Don’t get any ideas. Brandon’s
already on it.

ABBY
Really? Go ahead, new guy.

They laugh.

BRANDON
You girls are crazy.

BLESSING
And you is crazy if you think
nobody knows what I know.

Abby agrees and Brandon blushes.

Mary sticks her head in the stock room.

MARY
(smiling)
Brandon, you got a visitor.

INT. SOCK HOP’S MAIN FLOOR - CONTINUOUS

Brandon stands in between the entrance of the grill area,

smiling.

BRANDON
Wow, you’re right on time.

Jackson stands at the counter, looking very handsome in a

sleeveless shirt.

JACKSON
We got a lot to do, Mister. You
ready?

BRANDON
Yeah, I’m ready.

JACKSON
All right then, let’s go!
46.

MONTAGE EXT. CITY PARK - AFTERNOON

Brandon and Jackson are on the toy horses. They are obviously
too big for the toy horses, but they are rocking away.

BRANDON (V.O.)
It’s been awhile since I’ve had fun
like this... A long time.

EXT. MARION MAIN STREET - A DAY LATER

Brandon and Jackson are walking. Brandon laughs as Jackson is

talking.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Being around Jackson has been... I
don’t know. Like... like a smooth
bus ride on an open road.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I envy his cavalier attitude. He
just lives life. No worries, no
cares.

BRANDON (V.O.)
How in the hell does he manage
that? And how in the hell does he
look so good doing it?

INT. IRV’S COMICS - ANOTHER DAY - AFTERNOON

Both boys sit in a booth, reading comics from a mid size

stack.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I’m really into him. There are no
doubts about it. And I think he
feels the same. I might need to
break the ice and just say
something. I mean, I... We... keep
playing this game. One of us just
needs to come on with it.

Brandon looks at Jackson.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Be real... Be honest...

BRANDON (V.O.)
Be honest... I should tell him why
I’m really here in Marion.
47.

EXT. GRASSY AREA - ANOTHER DAY- EARLY EVENING

The two of them are lounging in a huge tree, carefree and

affectionate.

Jackson looks at Brandon.

JACKSON
So can I ask you something?

BRANDON
Sure.

JACKSON
When are you goin’ to kiss me?

BRANDON
Now seems like a great time.

Brandon and Jackson are slowly going in and then, they kiss.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I’ll tell him when the time is
right.

END OF MONTAGE
48.

INT. NANA’S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Brandon walks into the house. The TV is on and Nana is asleep

on the couch.

Brandon smiles and lightly wakes her up.

BRANDON
(whispers)
Nana, I’m home.

Nana slowly wakes up and grins at Brandon.

NANA
Oh...
(yawns)
Did you and Jackson have a good
night?

BRANDON
We did, but it’s time for bed.

Nana nods and get up from the couch.

She hugs and kiss Brandon on the cheek.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

He’s writing in his journal in bed. He writes ‘I KISSED HIM

ON A WARM BREEZY EVENING’. Next to the words circled in red
‘TELL HIM SOON’.

Brandon closes the journal and reaches for the lamp on the
night stand.

Then Brandon lies down on the pillow, facing us with his eyes
closed.
49.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon opens his eyes and sits up from his bed completely
shocked.

Brandon is in a cabin with his friends’ (the friends from his

picture) slaughtered bodies all around the room.

BRANDON
No... No, no this can’t be
happening.

INT. THE HALLWAY/STAIRS - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon runs out of the room into the hallway. He’s no longer
in the cabin, he’s in Nana’s house.

BRANDON
I-I, it can’t be here! Nana! Aunt
Mary!

Brandon sees BLOOD on the walls. He’s truly frightened.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
Nana! Aunt Mary!

INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Brandon stands in the middle of the living room. It’s

ransacked, with blood everywhere.

Suddenly, the room goes dark. Brandon looks around the dark
room.

CREEPY MALE VOICE

Where have you been? I’ve missed
you.

BRANDON
(faintly)
No, please.

CREEPY MALE VOICE

There were more people here, but I
got hungry. Now, it’s just you and
me. Just like before, but only this
time....

Suddenly, two GOLDEN EYES appears, staring right at Brandon.

CREEPY MALE VOICE (CONT’D)

You’ll be awake while I’ll--
50.
51.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - NIGHT

Brandon rises straight up in his bed, covered in sweat. He is

frightened and frantic. He curls up in a ball in the bed,
desperately holding himself.

BRANDON
It can’t... It can’t, not now...

INT. THE BATHROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon stares in the mirror. He looks horrible.

Brandon opens a drawer and pull out a small case of pills. He

pours out several pills in his hand and takes them. Then, he
drinks a cup of water.

Brandon stares at himself as tears fall from his eyes.

EXT. WHITE BIRD LAKE - MORNING

Jackson sits on a wooden bench. Brandon is walking up to him.

Jackson is getting up.

JACKSON
There you are...

They hug each other, with Brandon's head resting on Jackson’s

shoulder. Brandon’s face looks defeated.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Hey, now. That’s a hug! It’s good
to see you too.

BRANDON
(beat)
We need talk, okay?

JACKSON
Is something wrong?

The look on Brandon’s face answers the question.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Is it about us?

BRANDON
It’s about why I’m here in Marion.

JACKSON
Okay.
52.

Brandon steps back and puts his hands in his pockets.

BRANDON
Last year, during a Spring Break
trip, my friends... My friends were
murdered by something I can’t
describe or even remember.

JACKSON
Okay...

BRANDON
All I know... All I can remember
was this thing with blood all over
its mouth and shiny eyes. The cops
said I was in shock. They said some
wild animal killed them and
everyone just accepted that.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
For over a year, I had violent
dreams about that creature. I went
to every psychiatrists and then to
anyone who could help. But the
dreams kept coming and I was losing
it. Finally, Nana stepped in and
told me to come here.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
So, I dropped out of college and
moved here. Everything was cool,
until last night. I saw the
creature again. I thought I was
getting better, but now... I think,
I’m losing it, Jackson!

Jackson takes Brandon in his arms.

Brandon is crying, Jackson’s head is on Brandon’s shoulder,

his eyes are closed.

They’re still holding each other. Jackson’s head is on

Brandon’s shoulder, but now his eyes are open.

JACKSON
You’re not losing it, Brandon.
You’re not.

BRANDON
I know you’re trying to help me---

JACKSON
Brandon, I know you’re not.
53.

They break apart.

BRANDON
How-How can you tell?

JACKSON
I can... I can sense it.

BRANDON
What? What are you saying?

JACKSON
I can help you, Brandon. I can help
you figure this out, okay. I just
need you to close your eyes.

Brandon looks at Jackson desperately.

Brandon closes his eyes.

Jackson’s eyes turn a dark shade of blue and then, he touches

Brandon’s face.
54.

A SERIES OF SHOTS

Brandon discovering the bodies.

Brandon running inside the cabin.

Brandon watching a humanoid beast eating one of Brandon’s

friends.

The beast looks at Brandon. The beast looks like a man but
its face is long and dark, with long black and blonde hair.
Its mouth is filled with razor sharp teeth and the eyes are
golden.

The beast smiles at Brandon with blood covering its mouth.

Brandon is frightened.

THE BEAST
You smell sooo good. I bet you
taste like chocolate cake, but I’m
full.... Lucky for you.

FADE OUT.
55.

EXT. WHITE BIRD LAKE - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon is holding his head, stepping back.

BRANDON
Oh my god! How did you do that? How
did you read my mind?

JACKSON
I’m not like other people, Brandon.
I’m not... I’m not completely
human.

BRANDON
Wh-what? What are you?

JACKSON
I’m a Paen.

BRANDON
(stunned)
A Paen? What does that mean? And
what was that thing?

JACKSON
It means, I’m a supernatural... And
that thing... It’s was demon or
something like that. It fogged your
mind.

BRANDON
Holy Shit! Holy--I-I always knew
there was more out there, but
nothing like this!

JACKSON
There’s so much out there, Brandon.

BRANDON
What are you, really?

JACKSON
Do you trust me?

BRANDON
For some crazy, unknown reason... I
do.

Jackson grabs Brandon’s hand.

JACKSON
Hold on.

They take off, flying.

56.

EXT. ABOVE MARION - MOMENTS LATER

Jackson and Brandon are flying above the town.

Brandon holds on to Jackson tightly as they glide over CITY

HALL.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Can people see us?

JACKSON (V.O.)
Not if I want them to. My power can
keep us hidden from human eyes if I
want.

They watch the walking people and the cars driving on the
streets.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Are there others like you?

JACKSON (V.O.)
Yeah, there are twelve of us.
Twelve in every generation. We’re
like a family.

EXT. THE WOODS - CONTINUOUS

SERIES OF SHOTS

They fly through the trees.

Deer run through the woods and night birds scatter as they
fly by.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Does anyone else know about you?

JACKSON (V.O.)
Just you and my Dad... He’s goin’
to be pissed about it.

Jackson smiles as he grabs both of Brandon’s hands.

BRANDON (V.O.)
You fly, read minds... What else?

JACKSON (V.O.)
Can’t show you everything so soon.
57.

EXT. IN FRONT OF NANA’S COTTAGE - AFTERNOON

The boys land in front of the fence.

BRANDON
I still can’t believe this is real.

JACKSON
It’s real, Brandon. Just like
this...

Then, Jackson quickly moves in and kisses Brandon

passionately.

After a few moments, the two break apart.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
We can talk about it some more
tomorrow.

Brandon nods and Jackson flies off.

INT. JACKSON’S HOME - LIVING ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Ken is watching TV in the living room.

Jackson comes into the room.

JACKSON
He’s free... Patrick... he’s free.

Ken stands up looking at Jackson.

KEN
Shit! How? How did he break the
spell?

JACKSON
I don’t know how, Dad. But I know
he’s free. I saw him in Brandon’s
mind.

KEN
What? How did that boy get
involved?

JACKSON
It’s a long story, but Brandon saw
him about a year ago... Patrick’s
been wandering around doin’ who
knows what all this time!
58.

KEN
You know what you have to do. You
need to find him and kill him,
Jackson.

JACKSON
Dad... Y’know I can’t do that. It
could affect me, like before. You
almost lost me, remember?

KEN
But this needs to end, son!

JACKSON
(pauses)
He’s my family, my brother...
Killing him is like killing myself.

KEN
And what about the others? They
might be out there with him.

JACKSON
Patrick’s the only one we need to
worry about. Most of them won’t
follow his lead. They’re
frightened of him.

KEN
You think he’d come to Marion?

JACKSON
No, the spell around this town is
strong. Still, it’s been over a
year, plenty of time to do
something. Fuck!

KEN
Hey, watch your language. I’m the
only cusser in this house. Now, I
need to gather some things just in
case that fucker shows up. You need
to be ready, Jackson.

JACKSON
I know... I will be.
59.

INT. SOCK HOP’S MAIN FLOOR - DAY

Brandon sits in a booth, writing in his journal.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I can’t explain yesterday. I spent
all night trying to put everything
together.

BRANDON (V.O.)
My dreams were real. My friends
were killed by a fucking demon
beast.

BRANDON (V.O.)
I have so many questions, mostly
about Jackson. Where did he come
from? Where’s this demon now? Why
me?

BRANDON (V.O.)
Why was I left to live? Why did the
demon let me go? Is my connection
to Jackson fate? I mean, it’s very
odd that I meet this supernatural
bae in the middle of nowhere.

Brandon circles Jackson’s name many times in his journal.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Whether I like it or not, my life
is about to get more complicated
than it already was.
60.

EXT. SOCK HOP - NIGHT

Abby and a few others step outside.

Aaron watches them in his friend’s car from across the

street. His friend, GERRY FORT, gulps his beer aggressively.

Aaron stares wildly at Abby as she talks to the others.

AARON
Fuckin’ bitch.

Then, Brandon walks out of the diner and joins Abby and the
others.

Aaron watches Brandon disturbingly. Aaron’s thoughts are now

focused on him.

AARON (CONT’D)
Gerry.

GERRY
(wipes his mouth)
Yep.

AARON
Call the boys. Tell them to meet us
here, NOW!

Gerry puts down his beer and grabs his cellphone.

As Gerry dials, a smile spreads across Aaron’s rough face.

61.

EXT. IN THE WOODS - NIGHT

Brandon walks up the path to the clearing.

He keeps his eyes on the ground, following the path in front

of him.

As he continues forward, Brandon hears another set of

FOOTSTEPS running towards him.

Suddenly, Aaron runs up behind him and pushes Brandon down.

AARON
Hi faggot!

Brandon quickly gets up as Aaron moves towards him.

Aaron tries to punch Brandon, but Brandon ducks and kicks

Aaron in the nuts.

Aaron screams and falls to the ground.

Gerry and TWO OTHERS GUYS appear.

Brandon takes off.

AARON (CONT’D)
Get him!

The others take after Brandon.

62.

EXT. IN THE WOODS - NEAR WHITE BIRD LAKE - NIGHT

Brandon runs wildly through the woods.

He looks back to see if the guys are behind him.

Once Brandon turns back around, he stumbles and falls.

As he tries to get up, Patrick steps up in front of him!

PATRICK
(smiling)
Looks like you need some help.

Patrick reaches down to help Brandon up.

Brandon is hesitant to trust Patrick, but he takes his hand.

BRANDON
(out of breath)
These guys... We have to go.

PATRICK
I see why Jackson likes you.

BRANDON
What the? What are you talking
about? We have--

Before Brandon can finish, Aaron and his friends arrive.

They surround Patrick and Brandon.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
What do you want, asshole?

AARON
(grumbling)
Shut up! ‘Cuz of you, I got two
strikes.

BRANDON
That’s all on you for being a fuck-
up!

AARON
Shut the FUCK up! God, I’m goin’ to
enjoy bashin’ your head in!

PATRICK
You’re so funny, Aaron. So filled
with anger and rage... Mostly at
yourself.
63.

AARON
Who the FUCK are you, bitch?

Patrick just stares wildly at Aaron.

PATRICK
You really don’t want to know.

AARON
(royally pissed)
Fuck him up! Fuck them both up! I’m
gonna teach y’all not to FUCK with
Aaron Thomas!

Unexpectedly, there are multiple GROWLING sounds surrounding

them.

The moonlight dims and the area gets darker.

Everyone looks around as the growling grows louder.

Guy 1 runs toward Patrick and Brandon, but in a heartbeat,

Patrick grabs the guy by the neck and tosses him a few feet
away.

Then, as the guy hits the ground, Patrick’s eyes GLISTEN and
several DIRT TENTACLES grab Guy 1.

Guy 1 screams as he’s being swallowed into the earth.

Suddenly, a pack of WILD DOGS appear from the black night,

growling madly.

Guy 2 backs up in fear.

Two dogs start to surround him.

He begins to whimper.

Gerry moves closer to Aaron and then, they start running

away.

Patrick laughs like mischievous child.

Brandon watches in terror as the dogs violently ravage Guy 2.

Three more wild dogs join in.

Brandon quickly snaps out of it and runs off.

64.

EXT. IN THE WOODS - WHITE BIRD LAKE - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon finally reaches the lake and stops for a minute. He’s
still processing everything he just watched.

But before he can get himself together, he sees Patrick

walking along the path.

PATRICK (V.O.)
Chocolate cake...

Patrick’s hands are spread out, showing his LONG DARK TALONS
AND GOLDEN EYES.

PATRICK (V.O.)
Don’t be scared. I promise not to
kill you.

BRANDON
No! It... It’s you!

Brandon wants to run, but his legs feel like steel. He can’t
move.

Patrick gets closer.

PATRICK (V.O.)
He likes you, Juliet. Jackson likes
you and that’s a problem.

Suddenly, Brandon sees TENDRILS of SHADOWS run across the

ground.

The shadows creep into the trees, DARKENING the branches into
a thick OBSIDIAN SHADE.

Then, the branches stretch out.

Brandon watches the branches WEAVE and LOCK themselves in odd

patterns, forming a barrier between him and Patrick.

Brandon follows the shadows and to his surprise, he sees

Jackson standing a few feet behind him.

Jackson runs up to Brandon and holds him.

JACKSON
Brandon...

The ground shakes and then, the DIRT TENTACLES rise from the
ground to tear down Jackson’s barrier.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Go!
65.

Brandon nods and starts to run, but Patrick breaks through

the barrier.

PATRICK
No! You stay right here!

JACKSON
What the fuck are you doing here,
Patrick?

PATRICK
(almost sadden by the
response)
Jackson! Is that how you greet me?
After all this time, little
brother? After what you did?

Suddenly, ROCKY SPIKES poke from the ground. Brandon is

stumbling to stay grounded.

Jackson quickly grabs Brandon and they take off.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Don’t you leave me!

Patrick watches as the boys disappear in the night.

66.

EXT. IN THE WOODS - NIGHT

Aaron and Gerry are running madly through the woods.

The HOWLS of the dogs are deafening.

Gerry stumbles, but keeps running.

Finally, the howling fades.

The two guys slow down and rest against a tree.

GERRY
(breathing heavily)
What the FUCK was that? What the
FUCK--

Aaron grabs Gerry and shakes him.

AARON
Shut up! Shut the FUCK up!

Aaron pushes him to the ground.

Gerry gets up and backs away from him.

GERRY
I’m not staying here!

Gerry starts running away.

AARON
Get back here!!

Gerry runs into the night.

It is silent for a few seconds, then a BLOODCURDLING SCREAM

rips through the air.

Aaron slides down the tree onto the ground.

He tightly grips the HUNTING KNIFE from his side holster.

Aaron looks around frantically.

Suddenly, two golden eyes stare at Aaron in the darkness,

then Patrick crawls out on all fours.

He makes bad howling sounds from his BLOODSTAINED MOUTH.

Patrick laughs as he gets closer to Aaron. Patrick mocks him,

enjoying the fear he’s creating in Aaron.
67.

PATRICK
You’re thinking I’m a werewolf.
They don’t exist, you know. Not the
way you know them.

AARON
I-I don’t give a fu--

PATRICK
Shhh! I don’t speak to me like
that. I don’t appreciate it.

Patrick sits in front of him, grinning.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Gerry’s heart had a bitter taste to
it.

Aaron stares wildly at Patrick, holding the knife tightly.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Are you going to cut me? Here, let
me help.

Patrick takes his own talons and scratches his own face,
drawing blood. Then he takes his own blood and smears it
across Aaron’s face. Patrick’s cut heals up.

Aaron turns away, but Patrick grabs his face and forces it
back towards him.

AARON
(huffing)
What are you?

PATRICK
Your God.

Aaron spits in Patrick’s face.

AARON
Go to Hell!

Patrick grins broadly, showing razor sharp teeth.

PATRICK
Fucking rot sack, there’s no Hell.
But there are other places. I’ll
show you.

Patrick covers Aaron’s face with his long bloody fingers.

Aaron’s eyes suddenly goes WHITE and his jaw drops like a
broken puppet.
68.

Patrick removes his hand from Aaron’s face.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Now, you are perfect! And with my
guidance, you will finally teach
this town not to FUCK with Aaron
Thomas.
69.

INT. JACKSON’S BEDROOM - EARLY MORNING

Brandon wakes up in Jackson’s bed.

He sees Jackson sitting in the rocking chair.

Jackson immediately stands and slightly smiles.

BRANDON
Where are we?

Jackson hesitates as he walks over to Brandon.

JACKSON
My room. I thought it would be
safer here.

BRANDON
That guy... It was him, the thing
that killed my friends.

JACKSON
Yeah, that was Patrick.

BRANDON
And he remembered me, he fucking
remembered me!

JACKSON
I’m sorry, Brandon. I thought it
was over. I thought I trapped him
for a long time.

BRANDON
Patrick... Y-You know him?

JACKSON
Yes.

Brandon stares at him desperately.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
I hoped he wouldn’t try to find me
after the last time we crossed
paths...

Silence.

BRANDON
He’s just like you?
70.

JACKSON
He’s the oldest of us paens and the
most damaged... He was like a
brother to me.

BRANDON
Aaron and the other guys--

JACKSON
Dead. Anything Patrick touches is
as good as dead.

Brandon is silent for a few seconds. Then...

BRANDON
Jackson, take me home.

JACKSON
(defeated)
Okay.

Jackson gets up and Brandon slowly slides off the bed.

71.

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - EARLY MORNING

Both of them climb through the window. Brandon walks over to

his bed.

Jackson walks to the middle of the room.

JACKSON
(whispers)
Brandon has been asleep all night.

Brandon looks at him oddly.

BRANDON
What did you say?

JACKSON
I just did a lullaby to your
family.

BRANDON
A lullaby?

JACKSON
It’s like an incantation... A
spell.

Brandon nods.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
I didn’t want you to have any drama
at home, they won’t know you’ve
been out all night.

BRANDON
Jackson, why did you keep the truth
from me? You could told me about
Patrick.

JACKSON
(pause)
I thought I was protecting you, but
I fucked up. I’m sorry, I haven’t
been thinkin’ right since we met. I
should’ve never gotten so close to
you--

BRANDON
(low voice)
Oh...
72.

JACKSON
No, no I didn’t mean that. I’m...
Shit!

BRANDON
Maybe you’re right. We shouldn’t
try to make this work. Not the way
this is heading.

JACKSON
Brandon--

BRANDON
Please go... I can’t...

Jackson is defeated. He walks towards the window.

Jackson turns to look at Brandon, then he turns away and

flies out the window.

Brandon watches as the tears burn in his eyes.

INT. SOCK HOP - MORNING

People surround the counter, talking all at once.

Mary and Brandon enter the diner, noticing the small crowd.

MARY
(to Brandon)
What’s going on?

Blessing steps away from the crowd, and walks over to Mary
and Brandon.

BLESSING
Mary, something fucked up happened
last night.

MARY
Tell me.

BLESSING
(speaking low)
Gerry Fort, Abe Wills and Chris
Maggs were found torn to pieces in
the woods. The sheriff’s callin’
for help from all over the state.

BRANDON
Do they have any idea how this
happened?
73.

BLESSING
None, but witnesses saw Aaron with
the boys last night. The police are
lookin’ for him now. Abby’s at the
station; she’s been there all
mornin’.

Brandon turns away.

MARY
Lord, I knew that boy was trouble.

Blessing shakes her head.

MARY (CONT’D)
I’ll call Abby’s Mama and check on
her.
(looks to the group)
Everybody, don’t be stirrin’ up
rumors. Hopefully, we will hear
from the sheriff soon.

Mary walks to the back of the diner.

Blessing steps next to Brandon.

BLESSING
We ain’t never had mess this bad in
Marion. I feel like we’re in
Memphis.

BRANDON
You can’t tell me this town’s that
safe and quiet.

BLESSING
Well, there was a moonshiner scam a
year ago, but this shit here is
gangster.

Brandon looks away to see the people still chattering.

BLESSING (CONT’D)
I bet the churches will be full of
folks this week.
74.

INT. JACKSON’S BEDROOM

Jackson sits in his rocking chair with his eyes closed.

EXT. ASTRAL PLANE - NEVERWHERE

Jackson opens his eyes. He is in the astral plane.

JACKSON
Where are you? Show yourself, you
son of a bitch!

Silence.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Patrick!

Patrick appears.

PATRICK
(smiling)
Nice, little brother. Using an old
game to find me.

JACKSON
Why are you here?

PATRICK
Do I need to explain myself? You
banished me, left me to rot in the
ground! What do--

JACKSON
Answer me!

BRANDON
I need you. We need you. We need to
be a family again! To take our
rightful place in the mystic
realms.

JACKSON
A family? Really? You fucked up our
home with your psycho ways! We were
lucky the Divine Counsel didn’t
come for us after what you did!

PATRICK
Listen to you, Jackson. I hear
nothing but fear in your voice! You
never ran from a fight, you
relished in it. Have you forgotten
who we are?
75.

PATRICK (CONT'D)
We’re heirs to the power of Pa’an.
The God of Beasts and Life. The
first and last supreme being!

JACKSON
Of course I know who we are. And I
know the code we’re supposed to
honor. As high beings we do not
slaughter humans or supernaturals
for sport! Merrick taught us--

PATRICK
Merrick was a fool. He wanted us to
stay hidden from the world, but
I’ve changed that, little brother.
We will be worshipped as Gods!

JACKSON
No, Patrick!

PATRICK
Our kind have walked this Earth
before Christ. Why should we cower
and act like little bitches? We are
meant to rule!

JACKSON
We’re not meant to rule anything!
We’re supposed to--

PATRICK
Join me, please.

JACKSON
No!

PATRICK
Jackson, I will not ask again.

Jackson stays silent.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
Join me, or I’ll go after your boy!
I will kill him. Then, I’ll go
after his family and this fucking
town if you don’t join me!

JACKSON
I’ll stop you. I will find you and
stop you.

PATRICK
You tried before.
76.

JACKSON
My Dad stopped me then, but this
time... I swear--

PATRICK
The deaths of these good people
will be on your hands. And your
little boyfriend? Maybe I’ll fuck
him before I eat him raw!

JACKSON
Patrick, you--

INT. JACKSON’S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jackson’s eyes open. He’s sitting in his chair, pensive and

anxious.

Then, he drops his head in defeat.

INT. SOCK HOP’S OFFICE SPACE - AFTERNOON

Brandon walks into Mary’s office.

BRANDON
Aunt Mary, I’m going back home to
check on Nana.

MARY
Yeah, yeah that’s a good idea...
Maybe, I should close early. You
want to take the car?

BRANDON
No, I’ll walk.

Mary nods as Brandon starts to walk off.

MARY
Brandon...

She motions for him to come back.

Brandon walks over to Mary.

MARY (CONT’D)
Are you all right?

BRANDON
Yeah... Yeah, I’m good, Aunt Mary.
I’m good.
77.

MARY
That’s good to hear. I was worried
for a bit.

BRANDON
No need to worry, I’m fine.

MARY
Good.

Brandon puts on a fake smile and heads out the door.

EXT. SOCK HOP - CONTINUOUS

Brandon walks out the diner.

He watches the POLICE CARS speed down the street.

People are talking to each other in small clumps along the

sidewalks.

Brandon watches them for a moment.

BRANDON
(quietly to himself)
This is so fucked up.

Then, he slowly starts walking away.

INT. NANA’S STUDY - AFTERNOON

Nana sits in her rocking chair, reading a book.

BRANDON
Nana!

NANA
I’m upstairs!

Brandon walks into the study.

NANA (CONT’D)
Why are you home?

BRANDON
I was worried about you... With the
murders and all. Plus, Aunt Mary’s
thinking about closing the diner
early.
78.

NANA
Well, she shouldn’t do that. Folks
need a place to go and feel safe.
And don’t worry about me, God’s
watching this house.

Brandon kneels down towards Nana.

BRANDON
Nana, you didn’t see... The people
at the diner or in the streets.
They’re totally shaken up.

NANA
(nods)
How are you holding up?

BRANDON
I’m good, Nana. It’s just really
intense in town right now.

Nana puts her hand on Brandon’s face. She has a knowing

smile.

NANA
This town is strong. We’ve been
through a lot over the years, but
we always bounce back. Just like
you, my Grandson, we’ll keep moving
forward. Now, go back to the diner
and help your Aunt.

Brandon is hesitant, but nods and leaves the room.

79.

JACKSON’S HOME - OUTSIDE - AFTERNOON

Jackson sits in the backyard, staring at a clear dirt spot on

the ground.

Then, he takes a small knife and PRICKS three of his fingers.

Jackson smears the BLOOD on the ground, making a long line in

the dirt.

JACKSON
(in both English and Greek
language at the same
time)
Where is Patrick?

The blood/dirt SWIRLS into a MAP of Marion.

Jackson looks at the dirt map, hoping to find some inkling of

Patrick. He sees nothing.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
(in both English and Greek
language at the same
time)
Where is he?

The blood/dirt swirls again, but nothing appears.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Damnmit!

Ken walks out of the back door.

He joins Jackson.

KEN
Any luck?

JACKSON
No. No sign of him.

KEN
He’ll pop up. It’s not like him to
stay quiet for too long.

Jackson stands up and turns to his father. Jackson’s eyes are

emotionless and cold.

JACKSON
I just want to be there when he
does.

Jackson walks away, heading towards the house.

80.

Ken turns around toward him.

KEN
There’s something else bothering
you.

JACKSON
(stops walking)
It’s difficult.

KEN
It’s about him, Brandon...

Jackson nods.

Ken walks over to Jackson.

JACKSON
Yeah.

KEN
You like this boy?

JACKSON
I fucked up, dad. I’ve probably put
him in danger, maybe his family,
too.

KEN
We can protect his family. We have
enough magic to do so.

JACKSON
But I should’ve known better.
Getting involve with someone
outside of our world is a selfish
act. I should’ve--

Ken folds his arms.

KEN
Jackson... Do you like him?

JACKSON
I do. He’s everything I could ask
for.

Ken grins.

KEN
Then, go for it.

JACKSON
I can’t.
81.

KEN
Your Mama tried to push me away,
but I stayed, and I never regretted
it.

Jackson stares into his father’s eyes.

JACKSON
I don’t want him to die because of
me.

KEN
Then, don’t let it happen. Don’t
let him die.

Ken takes Jackson in his arms and hugs him.

KEN (CONT’D)
We’ll deal with this together. We
have before and we’ll do it again.

Jackson faintly grins and nods. After they break, Jackson

goes back to the dirt spot, hoping to locate Patrick

INT. BRANDON’S ROOM - NIGHT

Brandon sits in the middle of his bed, writing in his

journal.

He’s writing away and then... He stops.

Brandon sighs and closes his journal.

He turns around and pulls out his FURRY DOLL, Fern, from the
back of his pillows.

Brandon looks at Fern and places him in his lap.

BRANDON
I haven’t talked to you in a
while...

Fern just stares at Brandon.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
Where do I start?
(beat)
I thought... I thought things would
be good here, especially with
Jackson being around.

Brandon’s eyes shift away from Fern and on the bed.

82.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
I should’ve said something to him.
I should’ve told--

Suddenly, there’s a faint shadow that flashes by his opened

window.

Brandon leaps from the bed and runs to the window.

EXT. OUTSIDE BRANDON’S WINDOW - CONTINUOUS

Brandon desperately lunges his head out the window.

BRANDON
Jackson?

He looks around, but no one is out there.

Brandon continues to look outside, hoping to see Jackson; but

nothing’s there.

His eyes rest on the trees, dancing with the breeze.

Brandon takes another glance and closes the window.

Moments later, Jackson floats down from the roof.

Jackson pauses next to the window, but doesn’t look in.

Jackson lays his head against the side of the house and
places his hand on the window.

JACKSON
(in Greek)
Keep this home safe from harm.

His hand GLOWS briefly.

After a few seconds, Jackson floats away.

83.

INT. SALLY NOBLE’S HOME - A FEW DAYS LATER - MORNING

SALLY NOBLE, 25, pretty girl, is drying her hair and dancing
to the music on the RADIO.

Sally turns down the radio.

SALLY
Y’all are really quiet in there!

Silence.

SALLY (CONT’D)
Mom? Mom? Barry?

Sally turns off the radio and opens the bathroom door slowly.

INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Sally carefully steps out into the hallway.

She walks slowly.

SALLY
Mom? Barry?

Sally keeps walking.

SALLY (CONT’D)
Mom? Did y’all leave already? I
told you I’ll be a---

Sally loses her voice as she looks in her Mother’s bedroom.

INT. SALLY’S MOTHER BEDROOM - MORNING

Patrick is on top of her MOTHER’S DEAD BODY with his hand

inside her stomach.

He looks at Sally with a bloody grin spreading across his

mouth.

PATRICK
She had toast.

Sally turns around and runs.

84.

INT. LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

She runs to the living room and sees BARRY sitting in the
ROCKING CHAIR, THROAT SLASHED.

He is still rocking in the chair.

Sally finally screams.

Then, Patrick grabs her from behind.

Sally struggles, Patrick laughs.

PATRICK
Stop being a bad girl.

He pushes her down on the floor and put his foot on her
chest.

Sally tries to push his foot off her.

SALLY
(crying)
P-Please, d-don’t kill me.

Patrick looks down at her.

PATRICK
I’m not going to kill you.

Then, he looks over his shoulder.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
He is.
85.

INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Aaron walks out of Sally’s bedroom. Aaron looks like death.

He has PALE SKIN and DARK, SUNKEN EYES. He appears lifeless
and maniacal. His hands are deeply stained with blood.

The sight of him sends Sally in a state profound horror.

Aaron smiles madly as he approaches Patrick.

AARON
(gruffly)
Her screams sounds like sex.

PATRICK
You say the most interesting
things.

INT. LIVING ROOM - MORNING

Patrick removes his foot from Sally’s chest as Aaron grabs

her leg and drags her down the hall.

Sally is frantically screaming, clawing at the floor.

Patrick stands there, staring at Sally as Aaron drags her

away.

He smiles.

PATRICK
Sally, remember this. You die today
because of Jackson! He wouldn’t
come back with me, so he rather let
good folks like you die horribly!
It’s his fault, Sally!

His smile dies.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
It is ALL his fault!

Sally screams fade.

86.

INT. NANA’S LIVING ROOM - LATE MORNING

Nana stands over small table, picking up her BIBLE and

WALLET, and puts them in her huge PURSE.

Then, she reaches for her BINGO MARKERS and puts them in her
purse.

Sounds of KNOCKING on the front door.

Nana looks up and walks over to the door.

She looks through the small glass frame and opens the door.

Standing in front of her is Jackson, smiling and looking very

tranquil.

NANA
(grinning)
Well, hi Jackson. Good mornin’ to
you.

JACKSON
Good mornin’ to you too, Miss
Beverly. Is Brandon home?

NANA
He is. Come in.

Jackson walks in as she turns to around.

NANA (CONT’D)
Brandon!

Brandon comes down the stairs.

Once he sees Jackson standing there, he’s instantly hit with

a myriad of emotions. But overall, he’s happy to see him.

Jackson nervously smiles when Brandon gets closer.

NANA (CONT’D)
I’ll leave you two alone.

Nana walks away from the two of them. Brandon slowly steps
closer to Jackson.

There is awkward silence for a few seconds.

JACKSON
Can we talk?

BRANDON
Yeah, yeah that’s fine.
87.

EXT. NANA’S FRONT YARD - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon and Jackson stand next to Nana’s flower bed.

JACKSON
I just wanted to say again that I’m
sorry. I should’ve told you about
Patrick when I saw him in your
mind.

BRANDON
Why did you keep that from me?

JACKSON
I... I didn’t want to get you
involved and... I didn’t want you
to be afraid of me.

BRANDON
I wouldn’t be, Jackson. Not after
what we shared... You mean a lot to
me.

JACKSON
So you do. Ever since I met you,
I’ve been so happy. It’s been a
long time since I’ve felt like
this. I didn’t want to lose that,
Brandon.

BRANDON
Same here... And while I’m still
pissed at you, I still care. I just
want to help you--

JACKSON
You can’t. This is way out of your
league.

BRANDON
Patrick murdered my friends! I have
to do something!

JACKSON
Brandon, listen to me! You saw what
Patrick can do! It’s too dangerous--

BRANDON
Listen! I’m a Black man in America.
Everyday is dangerous. Besides
Patrick was coming here even if I
met you or not. At least now, I
have a fighting chance...
88.

BRANDON (CONT'D)
I have you.

Brandon takes Jackson’s hand.

Then, Jackson responds by entwining his fingers with

Brandon’s.

JACKSON
(low voice)
I will do everything to keep you
here with me.

BRANDON
I know.

They kiss. Then, Jackson takes Brandon in his arms.

JACKSON
You wanna go somewhere?

Brandon nods and suddenly they take off in flight.

EXT. KING CREEK - AFTERNOON

They land next to the creek.

They strip down to their underwear.

They jump in the water and start swimming.

Then they begin to move in closer.

They look at each other with undeniable passion.

Jackson moves in and takes Brandon by the waist and kisses

him intensely.

Brandon gives in willingly. He surrenders to Jackson, kissing

him like it’s no tomorrow.
89.

EXT. KING CREEK - ON A GRASSY KNOLL UNDER A WATERFALL - LATE

AFTERNOON

Jackson and Brandon are holding each other, watching the

water hit the rocks, rapidly and frenziedly.

They are in their underwear.

Jackson plays with Brandon’s hair and grabs him tightly.

Brandon reaches for his arm and holds it.

BRANDON
Jackson, please tell me more about
you.

JACKSON
Okay, what do you want to know?

BRANDON
The Wikipedia version?

Brandon breaks away from Jackson, turns and faces him.

Jackson sits up and looks Brandon eye to eye.

JACKSON
Well, my kind has been around since
Jesus, even before then. We come
from all over the world and we’re
kinda like brothers.

Brandon nods.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
We had a mentor named Merrick. He
was a Paen from the generation
before mine.

BRANDON
So there’s a group of you in every
generation.

JACKSON
Yeah.

BRANDON
And Merrick, where is he?

JACKSON
He died from cancer a year ago.

Brandon leans in closer to Jackson.

90.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Merrick taught us how to master our
powers. And honor the code of the
Mystic Realms.

BRANDON
The Mystic Realms?

JACKSON
Other dimensions of supernaturals.

BRANDON
(overwhelmed, but
attentive)
Okay, the Mystic Realms. Continue.

JACKSON
The code is simple... while we
inhabit Earth, we do not kill
humans or other supernaturals.
However, there are exceptions. For
thousands of years, we honored the
code. But Patrick didn’t care for
it or any rules.

BEGIN FLASHBACK:

Patrick enters the room. He is bloody and dark. His long

fingers are stained with blood. Two teens are running from
him.

JACKSON (V.O.)
Patrick believed we should be Gods,
and he... He did things to prove
his point. He was murdering people
as a game, hoping to be the ‘Thing
creeping in the dark’.

Flashback shot. Patrick and Jackson are confronting each

other.

JACKSON (V.O.)
I confronted Patrick and some of
our brothers who joined him. He
said that I was becomin’ too human
and afraid of our destiny. Merrick
tried to bind him to our home in
Florida, but Patrick found a way to
break the spell.

Flashback shot. Patrick looking half human, half beast. He is

holding Ken by his neck while approaching Jackson.
91.

JACKSON (V.O.)
He followed me and my Dad while we
were on vacation. Patrick attacked
us using everything he had. I
haven’t been in a life or death
fight before, but I was ready for
him.

Flashback shot. Jackson is dark, you can only see his eyes.
He is reaching out, like he’s summoning something. Shadows
are surrounding him.

JACKSON (V.O.)
I was wielding energies strong
enough to trap Patrick in the
earth, but it triggered somethin’
dark in me and I completely lost
it. It took every bit of magic my
Dad and Merrick had to bring me
back.

END FLASHBACK

EXT. CAVE - LATE AFTERNOON

Jackson and Brandon sit face to face.

BRANDON
Wow... And that’s why you left
Orlando?

JACKSON
(nodding)
I needed to get away from all of
it. That battle damaged my
brothers’ trust in me. So, we left
and headed here.

BRANDON
This dark side... Does it come out
often?

JACKSON
No, but it’s a natural part of me.
No one knows why, it just is. But
I’m learning how to control it.

BRANDON
Do you think you’re ready to fight
again?
92.

JACKSON
I have to... To beat Patrick, I
have no choice but to be ready.

BRANDON
You’ll beat him. I know you will.

Brandon moves closer to Jackson and lays his head on

Jackson’s bare chest.

JACKSON
I hope so.
93.

EXT. SOCK HOP’S BACK LOT - AFTERNOON

Jackson and Brandon walk up the back door.

They kiss.

JACKSON
I’ll be back, all right?

Brandon looks worried, but Jackson runs his hands through his
hair in hopes to calm him.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Don’t make that face, I’ll be back.

Brandon nods.

Jackson smiles.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Thanks for sticking with me through
this.

BRANDON
Just be safe.

JACKSON
I will, I promise.

Jackson kisses Brandon and flies off.

Brandon watches him and heads inside.

94.

INT. SOCK HOP’S MAIN FLOOR - NIGHT

Blessing, Abby, and a few others are cleaning up the diner.

Abby stops and pulls out her phone to see if she has any
calls.

Brandon walks over to her.

BRANDON
Any word?

ABBY
Nothing. It’s like Aaron vanished
or something.

BRANDON
He... Could be scared, or--

ABBY
Or dead.

BRANDON
Abby, I’m--

ABBY
Look, he’s good sometimes. I’ve
seen it, but he was destined for a
bad ending.

Brandon nods, knowing that he’s keeping a dark secret from

her and the others.

EXT. JACKSON’S HOME - GARAGE - NIGHT

Ken pulls up in his truck and parks it.

He gets out and walks inside the house.

95.

INT. JACKSON’S HOME - KEN’S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Ken walks in and sits on his bed.

He lowers his head and sighs.

Moments later, he gets up and walks over to his DRESSER.

Ken opens up the last DRAWER.

He pulls out a LOCK BOX and places it on the dresser.

Ken takes his NECKLACE off and looks at the small key
attached.

He unlocks the box and inside is a wrinkled clipping of a

HORNED CREATURE, many BLACK SEEDS and a BROWN ROOT with a
small piece of paper tied under it. The words, FOR HIM is
written on the piece of paper.

Ken takes a few seeds and holds them in his hand.

Then, he pulls out a picture of a younger version of himself

holding a DARK HAIRED WOMAN. Her face is buried in his chest.
Ken is dressed in a MARINE uniform.

Ken stares at the picture and smiles.

KEN
I wish you were still here, Sara.
We really need you. Jackson really
needs you.

Ken holds the picture for a few more seconds and puts it back
in the box.

Then, he places the box in the drawer.

EXT. JACKSON’S HOME - FRONT YARD - MOMENTS LATER

Ken walks out the front door and goes about hundred feet in
the yard.

He drops a couple of seeds on the ground.

The seeds quickly GLOW and VANISH.

96.

EXT. JACKSON’S HOME - BACK YARD - CONTINUOUS

Ken walks hundred feet from the house and throws the seeds on
the ground. The seeds glow.

EXT. JACKSON’S HOME FROM ABOVE - CONTINUOUS

A GREEN MYSTIC LIGHT circles the house and vanishes.

EXT. JACKSON’S BACK YARD - CONTINUOUS

As he walks towards the house, he notices the GLOWING RED

LIGHT on the ground.

Ken paces over to the glowing dirt spot. Suddenly, he

remembers... It’s Jackson’s locator spell.

Ken looks down and sees the MAP OF THE TOWN and notices the
RED DOT near the Sock Hop.

Ken’s eyes buck.

KEN
Patrick!

Ken runs to his truck.

EXT. SOCK HOP’S BACK LOT - NIGHT

Brandon carries a bag of garbage to the bin, Abby follows.

Brandon throws the bag in the bin and Abby closes it.

BRANDON
That’s it.

ABBY
I’m gonna run to my car really
quick.

BRANDON
I’ll be at door.

Abby nods and walks to her car.

97.

EXT. SOCK HOP’S BACK LOT - FURTHER OUT - MOMENTS LATER

Abby reaches her car and opens the door.

She gets her cigarettes and backs out of her car.

As she shuts the door, she hears...

AARON
(drawn out and dry)
Abby...

She looks up sees Aaron standing several feet away.

Abby can’t see his face, but she knows it’s him.

ABBY
Aaron... Aaron?

She slowly walks toward him.

AARON
Baby, help me.

ABBY
Where have you been? Everybody’s
looking for you.

She gets closer to him.

ABBY (CONT’D)
You have to go to the police,
they...

Abby freezes once she sees his pale sunken face and his BLOOD
STAINED HANDS.

ABBY (CONT’D)
(shocked)
Aaron, your hands!

AARON
(dryly)
I’ve done something bad.

Abby quickly holds him, buries her head in his cold chest.

ABBY
We’ll figure something out. I’m
sure you didn’t do anything to
Gerry and the others. But we--
98.

AARON
(in her ear)
You stupid bitch.

Aaron grabs Abby by the hair and pulls her back.

Abby sees his true twisted face... This is no longer the man
she knew.

ABBY
(choked up)
Aaron... No!

AARON
So easy to get you crawling back to
me. You were always so eager to
please.

Suddenly, Brandon runs up from behind and hits Aaron in the

back with a PLANK.

Aaron goes down, Abby crawls away from the boys.

BRANDON
Abby, get the fuck out of here!

Abby gets up and runs. Brandon hits Aaron again.

Aaron just laughs.

AARON
You’re gonna have to hit me harder
than that, bitch boy.

Aaron tries to get up, but Brandon takes another swing and
knocks Aaron back down.

Brandon drops the plank and heads back to the Sock Hop.
99.

EXT. SOCK HOP’S BACK LOT - MOMENTS LATER

Brandon turns the corner to see Patrick standing over Abby’s

unconscious body.

Brandon slows down.

PATRICK
She still loves him. Even though he
tried to killed her, she still
loves him.

Brandon drops down on his knees, checking on Abby.

BRANDON
What did you do to her?

PATRICK
She’s alive.

Brandon stands up, staring directly at Patrick.

Patrick grins and steps closer to Brandon.

Patrick sniffs the air and then, sniffs around Brandon.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
I can smell him all over you.

Patrick continues to smell Brandon.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
You’re sweet on him, lust after
him. I can smell it all over you
like dog shit.

BRANDON
(firmly)
Jackson’s looking for you.

PATRICK
Oh, I know that.... I know that!
I’m looking for him, too. However,
he just won’t come with me because
I want him to. But if I shake your
bloody body in his face, well, how
can he refuse?

BRANDON
Fuck you! You will never get him!

Patrick jumps into Brandon’s face. Brandon doesn’t finch.

100.

PATRICK
(laughs)
You’re not afraid of me anymore...
Tell me this, Juliet. Do you really
know Jackson?

Brandon just stares at Patrick.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
You think he’s this loverboy, this
white knight... He’s a killer. The
best at what he does.

Patrick begins to circle Brandon.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
I see what he likes about you.
Strong, cute... I bet you’re one
hell of a fuck.

Patrick starts rubbing Brandon’s chest.

Brandon raises his hand to punch Patrick.

Patrick, with super speed, takes Brandon’s arm and tosses him
a few feet into several empty boxes.

Brandon is in pain, but tries to get up.

PATRICK (CONT'D)
Don’t you raise your hand at me,
human! You don’t have to be alive
when I see Jackson.

Suddenly, Ken appears from around the diner, holding a JAR OF

LIGHTENING BUGS in his hand.

KEN
(in Greek)
Keep Him in Place!

Ken throws the jar at Patrick.

Before Patrick realizes what’s happening, the jar hit the

ground behind him.

The LIGHTING BUGS surrounds Patrick, freezing him in place.

Ken runs over to Brandon.

KEN (CONT’D)
You okay?
101.

BRANDON
No...
(stands up)
Will that hold him?

KEN
Not for long, we need to go.

BRANDON
Wait! I can’t leave Abby--

KEN
We’ll put her next to the door!

Ken and Brandon gather Abby and moves her to the back door.

KEN (CONT’D)
Okay, let’s go!
102.

INT. KEN’S TRUCK - NIGHT

The two men are speeding through the back roads. Brandon is
pensive and Ken is focused.

BRANDON
This is beyond real.

KEN
You only seen half of it...
Brandon, right?

BRANDON
(nods)
Are you one of the Paens?

KEN
(grins)
No, I’m Jackson’s Dad, Ken.

BRANDON
Thanks for saving me.

KEN
Don’t thank me yet. We got to
survive the night.

BRANDON
Where’s Jackson?

KEN
I don’t know, I was hoping you
knew. He’s--

EXT. THE ROAD - CONTINUOUS

Suddenly, the TREES start falling in front of them. Ken tries

to avoid the trees, but fails.

Ken’s truck swerves into a ditch.

INT. KEN’S TRUCK - MOMENTS LATER

The guys are shaken up.

KEN
Fuck!
(turn to Brandon)
Brandon?

BRANDON
I’m fine!
103.

KEN
We’re not far from my house! Grab
that bag behind you and let’s go!

As Ken gets out of his truck, he is quickly hoisted up by

Aaron.

AARON
Where are you goin’?

Aaron throws Ken over the hood of the truck.

AARON (CONT’D)
(gritty)
I have so much power, man! Who knew
being in this shitty town would
finally pay off!

Ken struggles to move.

KEN
(in pain)
He’s using you boy.

AARON
Maybe I’m using him, fucker!

Aaron pulls out his HUNTING KNIFE and starts walking over to
Ken.

Then, a GUN SHOT fills the night! Aaron goes down after being
shot in the shoulder.

Brandon holds the smoking gun he found in the glove

compartment.

BRANDON
Got you, bitch boy!

Brandon turns around and there is Patrick.

A long dark smile appears on his face, showing his sharp

teeth.

All goes Black.

104.

EXT. THE WOODS - MOMENTS LATER - NIGHT

Patrick walks over to Ken’s unconscious body.

Aaron watches with maniacal grin on his face. He grips a

hunting knife in his hand.

Aaron joins Patrick, preparing for the kill.

PATRICK
Wait.

Aaron looks disappointed and sticks the knife in his belt

loop.

Patrick squats down and slaps Ken. After a few times, Ken
slowly awakes.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
The loyal father.

Ken hoarsely breathes.

KEN
(scratchy)
Stay away from my son.

PATRICK
He’s NOT your son!

Ken laughs at Patrick’s anger.

KEN
(scratchy)
You always hated that he chose me
over you. He wanted to be a real
man rather than some low-rent demon
like you.

Patrick raises his dark skeletal hand over Ken’s face. Ken is
quickly in a trance.

PATRICK
I could turn you into a slave like
Aaron. Or I could take the pain you
have endured all your life and
increase it tenfold.

Patrick twists his hand and Ken screams in agony.

Patrick closes his hand and Ken continues to scream.

Aaron watches his master at work. He licks his lips, hoping

to get in on the action.
105.

As Aaron moves forward...

JACKSON (O.S.)
Aaron...

Aaron looks around, trying to find the voice.

JACKSON (O.S.) (CONT’D)

Sleep.

Aaron’s eyes shut and he falls to the ground.

Patrick notices Aaron hitting the ground.

Suddenly, Jackson comes flying towards Patrick in great

speed.

He grabs Patrick and tackles him through the dirt.

Jackson quickly stands his ground as Patrick slowly gets up.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
Monster!

Jackson backslaps Patrick with great force, knocking Patrick

back down.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
You’ve killed innocent people!

Patrick licks the dark blood from the side of his mouth.

Jackson’s eyes slightly glows as he glares at Patrick.

PATRICK
It’s your fault! You made me do
this! You ran away from us, from
your heritage!

Instantly, the ground rumbles and rises up. MUD and ROOTS
surround Jackson’s legs, moving upward.

Patrick uses his powers to make the dirt and roots mold
around Jackson, holding him in place.

Jackson motions his arms and magically breaks the mold around
him.

Then, Jackson’s shadow moves on the ground and onto the

trees.

JACKSON
Enough, Patrick!
106.

Jackson’s power forces the branches to LASH out at Patrick.

Patrick tries to stop the branches by using his own power,

but Jackson’s power is too great.

The branches grab Patrick’s arms and legs, stretching him out
in mid-air.

JACKSON (CONT’D)
I warned you! I told you to stay
away from me and my own!

A few branches wrap over Patrick’s face, tightening very

slowly around his neck.

Jackson’s skin changes. His natural tan darkens into a

different shade of blue. Then, he floats towards Patrick.

Patrick struggles to break free.

Patrick looks at Jackson and smiles.

PATRICK
(strangled voice)
See? Look at... Your glorious
power! The blood of the Panes runs
through you.

As Jackson squeezes his fists, the branches spread out

Patrick’s arms.

Patrick screams.

The branches pull Patrick’s arms and legs further, stretching

him out like Silly Putty.

Jackson’s eyes are full with determination.

Suddenly, Jackson hears GROWLING and HOWLING.

107.

EXT. ACROSS THE GROUNDS - NIGHT

He turns around and sees a pack of wild dogs dragging

Brandon’s unconscious body into the middle of the clearing.

The dogs leave Brandon lying face down in the ground.

A dozen more dogs appear near by.

EXT. ACROSS THE GROUNDS - CONTINUOUS

Jackson desperately looks at Brandon lying on the ground.

The dogs’ red eyes are staring at Brandon, waiting for their
master’s word.

EXT. THE WOODS - CONTINUOUS

Jackson turns back to Patrick.

His shadow power withdraws from the trees.

Jackson loosens his fists and the branches release Patrick.

Patrick falls to the ground like a sack of rice.

JACKSON
Brandon has nothin’ to do with
this!

PATRICK
(shouting)
He has EVERYTHING to do with this!
He’s poison, Jack! He has
domesticated you! Bound you to your
humanity!

Patrick gets up and moves in closer to Jackson.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
I have set things in motion. Our
kind will rule this world, but we
need you. We’re lost without you,
little brother!

JACKSON
Set Brandon free, Patrick!

PATRICK
No! You’re not listening to me!

Jackson’s skin fades into a lighter shade blue.

108.

JACKSON
Your actions will only get us
killed!

PATRICK
Or make us the new Gods! Everything
I’ve done is for us! Every line
I’ve crossed will make every being
to fall on their knees and worship
us!

Jackson grabs Patrick by the neck.

JACKSON
What have you done?

Brandon begins to wake up.

The dogs start GROWLING.

Suddenly, Jackson takes off, flying towards Brandon.

PATRICK
Jackson, please!

Patrick is devastated as Jackson rushes off to save Brandon.

Tears rolls down his face, and then his eyes go completely
black.

PATRICK (CONT’D)
RIP HIM!
109.

EXT. ACROSS THE GROUNDS - CONTINUOUS

The dogs rush towards Brandon.

Brandon quickly curls up in a ball.

Jackson immediately gathers Brandon in his arms and they take

off.

But the force of gathering Brandon causes Jackson to go off

balance.

Jackson loses control and they fall to the ground.

They are shaken but okay.

JACKSON
I gotta get you out of here!

BRANDON
Jackson!

Two huge dogs leap ferociously at Jackson and Brandon.

Jackson rushes up in the air and grabs them at mid flight.

He throws them aside like softballs.

Brandon stands up as the dogs begin to surround him and

Jackson.

Jackson lands back to the ground to protect Brandon.

Brandon grabs Jackson’s arm and takes a good long look at

Jackson’s face.

Jackson’s eyes are luminous and somewhat frightening.

JACKSON
Stand close to me!

Brandon nods.

The dogs are snarling and barking in an unhinged fashion.

Then in unison, the dogs rush towards Jackson and Brandon.

Jackson motions as the shadows move to his command, washing

over him. Brandon watches as the darkness caresses Jackson
like a lover.

Overwhelmed with a myriad of emotions, Brandon can’t take his

eyes off of this event. To him, Jackson is a comic book
character come to life.
110.

Jackson raises his hands above him and brings them down,
unleashing CIMMERIAN SHADOW BOLTS at the dogs.

The bolts knock the dogs a few feet away from him and
Brandon.

The dogs start to whimper and run off into the woods.

Jackson slowly falls to his knees.

Brandon rushes over to him.

Jackson sluggishly gains his bearings.

BRANDON
Jackson?

Jackson quickly turns to Brandon. His eyes still has a

glowing azure color to them.

JACKSON
Stay back!

Jackson’s shadow power moves Brandon away from him as Patrick

approaches.

Patrick instantly mounts Jackson.

PATRICK
You continue to break my heart. I
have no choice but to do this.

Patrick’s eyes glow and Jackson’s screams.

They are locked in a psychic battle.

PATRICK (V.O.) (CONT’D)

To fight me, to beat me, you have
to unleash it all. Let the Black
Haas out!

JACKSON (V.O.)
No!

PATRICK (V.O.)
Once I set you free, the blood of
these filthy humans will run
through these streets. Your name
will be legend!

Jackson tries to push Patrick off, but he can’t.

Patrick beams down on Jackson. He’s pushing Jackson to the

brink of darkness.
111.

Patrick has the upper hand on Jackson.

Jackson tries to fight back, but he knows if he lets go, he

is gone.

Jackson’s skin darkens. His voice becomes guttural and

inhuman.

JACKSON
No!

Suddenly out of nowhere, Brandon rams Patrick, knocking him

away from Jackson.

Patrick quickly manhandles Brandon.

PATRICK
Bye, Juliet!

Patrick draws back his black talons to strike.

Brandon takes his fist and hits Patrick in the chest.

As his hand leaves Patrick’s chest, the ROOT attaches itself

on him.

Patrick screams and fall back.

The root SPRAWLS out like mercury all over Patrick, covering
his entire body.

Patrick SCREAMS in agony.

In a few moments, the banana sized root devours Patrick’s

body.

Brandon smiles, breathing crazily.

BRANDON
For my friends, fucker!

Brandon watches the SMOKING ROOT for a moment and gets up to

tend to Jackson.

Jackson is curled up in a ball, shaking.

Brandon reaches Jackson.

Jackson is losing control, his skin is now a dark blue.

Jackson’s shadow power is spreading on the ground,

Brandon watches Jackson struggle to keep control.

112.

JACKSON
Please... Get away...

BRANDON
No!

Brandon grabs Jackson from behind.

Brandon holds on tightly.

BRANDON (CONT’D)
Stay with me, Jackson. Don’t go
dark... Stay with me.

Jackson struggles and then, screams.

The SHADOWS retract from the ground and returns to Jackson

and Brandon.

The SHADOWS wash over them both like BLACK FLAMES, engulfing
their bodies.

Suddenly, SHADOWS turn BLUE and then, the SHADOWS vanishes.

Jackson’s skin returns to normal.

Brandon continues to hold Jackson as he gains control.

He slowly turns to face Brandon.

JACKSON
(faintly)
Wh-What did you do?

Brandon cradles Jackson.

BRANDON
I stopped Patrick with some of your
Dad‘s stuff--

JACKSON
No, to me... You, you were in my
head... My soul. Did you feel it?

BRANDON
I-I did. It was... It was
incredible.

JACKSON
(looks at Brandon)
Y-you saved me.
113.

BRANDON
See, I told you I could help you.

Ken limps over to the guys.

KEN
It worked! It fucking worked! That
root was a Calleeda root... It was
meant for Jackson. I kept it just
in case he ever lost control of his
powers.

BRANDON
So, Patrick’s trapped in that root?

KEN
Yep.

BRANDON
Wow.

JACKSON
So, let’s just go to a movie next
time, okay?

Brandon laughs and leans down to kiss Jackson.

EXT. MARION MAIN STREET - TWO WEEKS LATER - DAY

People walking about, carrying on as normal.

BRANDON (V.O.)
After that night, Jackson had a lot
of work to do.

The sheriff was talking with some people, while others stood
around.

BRANDON (V.O.)
He used his powers to convince the
town that a murderous suicide cult
were behind the killings.

INT. SOLIDARY CONFINEMENT - DAY

Aaron sits in a room, coloring in a Coloring Book. His eyes

are blank.

A nurse walks in and hands him a small stack of COMIC BOOKS.

He pats Aaron’s shoulder and leaves the room.
114.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Jackson told the sheriff that the
cult brainwashed Aaron.

Aaron opens one comic book and sees horrible murder scene.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Jackson tried to fix Aaron.

Aaron smiles like an overjoyed child.

BRANDON (V.O.)
But his mind... His mind was in
outer space. Whatever Patrick did
to him will take a lot of time to
repair.

INT. SOCK HOP - AFTERNOON

People are eating and chatting.

The waitresses are serving food and taking orders.

Blessing and Abby are talking to a group of guys at the

counter.

BRANDON (V.O.)
But in all, Marion stayed the same.
No one moved out or started their
own witch hunt for the cult.

Brandon sits in a booth, writing in his journal.

For a second, he stops and looks around the room.

BRANDON (V.O.)
But if they only knew about the
real killer. How he’s trapped in
some kind of magic sweet potato in
my boyfriend’s house.

Brandon takes a deep breath and exhales.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Hell, if they only knew about my
boyfriend...
115.

EXT. THE ROOF OF JACKSON’S HOUSE - NIGHT

Jackson and Brandon are sitting very close on the roof,

talking.

BRANDON (V.O.)
There’s a lot about him that
remains a mystery to me. There are
things that scares me as well.

Jackson smiles at Brandon, playing with his nose.

BRANDON (V.O.)
Being with him could cost me so
much and yet, give me so much more.

Jackson kisses Brandon.

Brandon rests his head on Jackson’s chest with a relaxing

smile on his face.

BRANDON (V.O.)
It’s all a risk... But I wouldn’t
have it any other way.
