Rationale for SLT


Star Math, a leading computer-adaptive assessment for grades 1-12, identifies which skills and sub-skills students know; and which
skills they’re ready to work on next. Star Math measures students’ math proficiency and growth. The prime importance in the
classroom is whether our students are mastering what we teach, and whether they are teaching the goals and objectives set for
them. These goals and objectives are created from the eight mathematical practice standards, and the second grade Louisiana
Student Standards of Mathematics.
Timed addition and subtraction fluency, which consisted of Counting, algebraic thinking, cardinality, number and operation in base
ten, measurement, data, geometry, and adding and subtracting within 10. I am using this data as my fall 2017 base-line data.

Rationale for SLT


Student growth rate can be used to help determine if a student growing adequately throughout the year based on his/her scaled
score using STAR reading and DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency. (ORF is a measure that assesses accuracy and fluency with reader
is one whose decoding processes are automatic, requiring no conscious attention. This enables readers to allocate their attention
to the comprehension and meaning of the text.
