Urdu is a language which is widely spoken and recognised throughout the world.

There are different views on Urdu language but when it comes to talk about love,
people prefer usage of Urdu as it famous for its shayaris, quotes and doyens of
Urdu poetry. The language has celebrated the richness of the language and the
cultural diversity in India and throughout the world. Some of the famous poets
are Meer Taqi Meer, Mohammad Iqbal, Firaq Ghorakhpuri, Akbar Allahabadi, Mirza
Ghalib etc. Urdu is a rich language famous for its mixed linguistic heritage and
evolved as a mixture of Turkish and Arabic that was spoken by the Invader's
armies. There are approximately 104 million people speaking Urdu mostly
inhabitants of India and Pakistan, though in India Urdu continues to die a slow
death but Pakistan has recognized it as National language of Pakistan and
continues to flourish in Pakistan. Nevertheless Urdu has been widely quoted in
debates, arguments and forums of national and international importance but it is
losing its importance in our country. Khurshid Afsar Bisrani has put it in an apt
manner :

 Ab Urdu kya hai ek kothey ki tawaif hai

Mazaa har ek leta hai mohabbat kaun karta hai

What is Urdu now but a whore in a whorehouse

Whoever wants have fun with her, very few love her

It is very significant to note that why Urdu is losing its importance in India and it
is a matter of grave concern and should be addressed through deliberation and
discussion with all the stakeholders. It is high time to preserve and protect such
a beautiful language, which promotes cultural diversity and helps in
intermingling of different cultures.
