Assignment 1: Flow Chart

Policy/Event Box: Define a policy or event that you have learned from the material in at least
one sentence. Things to include: who, what, when, where, why, how.

Cause Box: Write at least one sentence describing what factors caused the event you wrote
down in the policy/event box.

Effect Box: Write at least one sentence that includes implications or effects the event/policy
had on the Latino population or the United States.

Students will work on this assignment individually. Accompany information used from the
sources with a page number or indication of where it is in the source

Assignment 2: Prioritized List

Upon the completion of the flow chart, begin working on the prioritized list. Get into groups of
two or three and discuss which of the policies or events from the terms column you think had
the greatest impact on the Latino population of the United States. After discussing with your
peers, individually rank them. Drag the green boxes with the events over to the blue boxes or
draw a line between them in the order you feel is appropriate. Boxes at the bottom represent
the least impactful and the boxes at the top represent the most impactful.
