1.0 INTRODUCTION
Existing 07-Storied (including roof top steel shed) Industrial Building for the Abir
Fashions. at House#44, Road#02, Kutubail (post office road), Fatulla, Narayangonj
has been re-analyzed for different loading conditions & different load combinations
accordingly. This report summarizes the analysis and design related data
2.0SCOPE OF WORK
The design work of this Project has been carried out following the design criteria and
Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC). The scope of the work is as follows-
Arranged As-Built Drawing.
Arranged Load plan of several story.
Determination of strength parameter of material used
Analysis & comments on existing structure
Produced a loading plan for all floor plates within the factory giving
consideration to floor capacity & column capacity
Produced retrofitting drawing where required.
3.0METHODOLOGY
Based on the supplied Architectural Drawing, field measurement, scan report, core
cutting test of existing structure, we “DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT SOLUTION (DDS)”
developed a computer analysis model and carried out complete analysis of the
structure incorporating various design data as per Bangladesh National Building
Code (BNBC). Loading values is considered by direct supervision of the project.
Strength parameter of concrete and steel is considered by core cutting test from
Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). The results obtained from
computer model analysis were checked against relevant specifications and hand
calculations. Finally, the design data is compared with the As Built drawing of this
structure. If it is satisfied then the structure is safe and sound, otherwise additional
treatment is provided for further uses.

The structural element has been designed and considering the following criteria.
Selection of structural system depends on the building layout, column spacing, floor
height, maintenance requirement and available construction method. For this building
this parameter are given below-
Structural Parameter
The following strength parameter is considered from Military Institute of Science and
Technology (MIST) report. Detailed core test report has been provided in attached file.

Unit weight of materials and the calculation of design dead loads are according to section-
2.2, Chapter-2, part-6, BNBC-Page6-22
Live Load:
Live load is the load superimposed by the use or occupancy of the building not including the
environmental loads such as wind load, rain load, earthquake loador dead load. (Ref.
BNBC, Part-6, Chapter-2, Sec-2.3.2)
But it should be not less than the minimum floor live load. (Ref. BNBC, Part-6, Chapter-2,
Sec-2.3.3)
Detail dead load (excluding structure self-weight) & live load on various floor levels are
given below as per different uses of the floor.
Wind Load:
The calculation of wind load confirms the sub-clause 2.4, Chapter 2, Part-6 of BNBC. The
following equation has been used to calculate sustained wind pressure of the structure.
Pz=CgCpCcCiCzVb2[BNBC, 2.4.6.2,2.4.6.3 Page-6-33,6-34]
Wind load was applied in two orthogonal directions X and Y.
The following parameters are considered
1. Design wind speed =215 km/hr
2. Exposure Type =A
3. Importance factor, I = 1.0
Dead Load:
Self weight of the structure
Partition wall load
Floor finish
Live Load:
R.C.C structural member will be designed to have strength not less than the required to
resist the most unfavorable effect of the combination of the factored loads shown below.

Reinforcement concrete structure has been designed with Ultimate Strength Design (USD)
method has been adopted. Special provision for seismic design, Chapter 21 of ACI 38-99
and BNBC has been adopted.

I 1.0 INTRODUCTION
I results obtained in the field and in the laboratory tests has been presented
with significance.
I 2.0 PURPOSES:-
Sub-soil investigation is as predominant feature for designing foundation of
impoftant structure in an intelligent economic and satisfactory. Both from the
I results of field & laboratory tests are essential to obtain information required
by the structural investigation to asceftain to depth sequence and establish
economy design of foundation.
I 3.O SCOPE OF THE WORK:
I
I The other end of the drili rod was fitted with a swivel head which was
connected water pump through a high pressure hose pipe the up and down
movement of the drill rod helped in to the drill rod and was emerged thruough
I the pores of the chopping bit at a high pressure. Water then rose up the annular
space between the drill rod and the casing and carried the loose soil out of the
drill hole which was advance in this was. The hole was always kept filled with
I water. As a result the excess hydrostatic pressure above the foundation water
pressure the uncaused wall of the hole from drilling mud is used with from a
thin a lining on the wall of the boring and prevents the hole from collapsing
I 1.2
I of 76.23 cm.(30") inches on the drill rod. The number of blows (lr{) necessary
to produce the penetration were recorded in three different stages at 15.24cm.
(6") inches interval" The N values were taken as summation of the number of
I blows required in 2"d 3'd 15.24cm.(6") inches for executing the last rid was
lowered in to the bore. The upper end of the drill was fitted with a socket on
which a (140lbs) hammer was allowed to fail freely from the required height
I 4.3
of 7.62cm. (30") inches.
I tubes known as Shelby tubes" the are 7.62 cm. (3") inches in diameter having
in this wall thickness. the length of the tubes are usually 45.73 cm (18" to 24")
inches before collection of a sample the hole is washed and cleaned for some
I time and Shelby tube is attached hard. The tube is pressed down in to the
ground from the top filled with soil sample. After the Shelby tube is taken out
t
of the hole ends are cleaned and sealed paraffin was in any change is moisture
content.
I drill water returned with cutting of soils from the bore hole during operation.
The samples were collected by means of spilt spoon sampler. This sample was
attached to the bottom of the drilling rod in place of the cutting bit end
I lowered in to the hole at the desired depth. It is then driven in to the soil up-to
a measured depth by means of hammering in a prescribed manner and then
removed from the holes.
I
I
I
5.0 Gfound water table (G.W.T.)
The ground water table was recorded in each bore hole.
Measurement for
ground water table was taken after and over night,s
stabilization of
completion of boring of a hole and followea uy anJtner
-for measure ment 24
hours. The last measurement was taken as final ground water table and
recorded. During this period the bore hole was proteited
from any physical
disturbance ofcasing.
