2010
ABOUT THIS INSURANCE PROGRAM
Congratulations on your relocation! While moving is an exciting time in ones life, it can also be challenging.
To assist you with your relocation, Dell has partnered with Wills Relocation Risk Group (WRRG) to provide
you with a comprehensive insurance program designed to protect your goods in the unlikely event they suffer
loss or damage during their transit to your new home. This package of information is designed to explain the
benefits of the program to you and assist you with the process of valuing your goods and applying for the
insurance protection provided by Dell and its partners.

Do I Need This Insurance Protection?

Dell has arranged this protection program for you as part of your relocation benefit package. It is as
important for you to consider as your existing homeowners or renters policy likely offers, at best, limited
protection for your goods during the course of their transit. Additionally, in the unlikely event of loss or
damage to your shipment you will be provided resource and guidance by our insurance partners to adjust
your claim as fairly and quickly as possible.

What Does This Policy Cover?

The policy is intended to protect your household goods and personal belonging against loss or damage they
may sustain during the normal course of your transit. While the policy is broadly worded, standard
exclusions and conditions apply. We strongly recommend that you read the policy terms and conditions,
contained in this document. Your protection will begin when the movers arrive to pack your goods and will
continue throughout the transit to delivery at your new home, except for circumstances explained later in
this document.

Will This Policy Cover All My Belongings Against Loss Or Damage?

No, while the coverage is very broad there are some items that are simply not eligible for coverage under
any policy of this type. The following goods will not be eligible for coverage:
- Monies, securities, evidence of debts or accounts.
- Perishables, live animals or contraband
- Loss of data, business property
- Furs, Silverware, Goldware and Jewelry are only covered to a maximum combined value of
$5,000 total (we advise you to take these items with you or place them in the care of a
trusted individual/institution)
- Furs, Silverware, Fine Arts, Antiques, Rugs, Gold Ware, and Pianos which exceed $5,000 in
value must be separately declared and appraised in order to be covered. You are responsible
for the cost of any appraiser’s fee. This schedule must be received in the Willis Relocation
Risk office prior to shipment. The claim adjustment will be based on repair/restoration cost,
the scheduled value, or its replacement cost, whichever is less.
-
- Coverage applies to economic loss only, no coverage is available for loss of sentimental
value
- Coverage applies only to direct damage or loss to eligible items. Consequential loss is not
covered under this policy.

1
How Much Coverage Will I Have Under This Program?
The insurance carrier agrees to pay either the full replacement or repair costs for items that suffer loss or
damage during the course of transit and long term storage. Dell employees will value their goods as follows:

The insurance carrier will provide replacement value protection if you agree for no less than $12 times
the weight of the shipment and further agree to separately list and value all items or sets valued at over
$5,000. If your goods need additional coverage beyond the total indicated by this method, you may
request additional coverage by preparing a High Valued List, which will include and valued all items or
sets above $5,000. This list will be added to your lump sum valuation.

Furs, Silverware, Fine Arts, Antiques, Rugs, Gold Ware, and Pianos which exceed $5,000 in value must be separately declared and appraised in order
to be covered. You are responsible for the cost of any appraiser’s fee. This schedule must be received in the Willis Relocation Risk office prior to
shipment. The claim adjustment will be based on repair/restoration cost, the scheduled value, or its replacement cost, whichever is less

Are My Goods Protected Against All Types Of Loss Or Damage?

While the policy is broadly worded to provide protection against a wide variety of circumstances there are
certain events that insurance protection does not apply to, including the following:
- Loss or damage caused by gradual deterioration, wear and tear, atmospheric or climatic
conditions, moth, perishables and inherent vice.
- Loss or damage caused by terrorist attacks to goods in permanent storage.
- Consequential loss or damage as a result of direct loss or damage to covered goods
- War, Strikes, Riots, and Civil Commotion; except to the extent specifically provided.
- Depreciation arising from inadequate or substandard repairs or restoration of a damaged
item.
- Owner packed goods for breakage, scratching, denting, chipping, staining or tearing unless
caused by fire, stranding, sinking or collision of a vessel or vehicle transporting goods.
- Owner packed goods for missing items of cartons or packages unless an itemized valued list
of contents of each carton or package is provided by owner prior to commencement of
transit.
- Rust to piano strings/Loss of tune of piano as a result of transit
- Wrinkled clothing which suffers no additional damage

The following exceptions apply only when an automobile/motorcycle/boat/trailer is approved by Dell to be

shipped with the household goods:
- Loss or damage to an automobile while being driven under its own power except while on
the premises of the port and while in the care, custody or control of the freight forwarder or
his/her designated agent.
- Loss or damage to an automobile transported by Car Carrier unless specific coverage has
been requested.
- Loss or damage caused by scratching, denting or marring of an automobile unless the
forwarder and owner both agree and sign a “certificate of condition report” or similar
document stating the condition of the automobile prior to shipment, noting all defects.
- Goods packed in autos, trailers, or boats.
- Non-factory installed auto/trailer/motorcycle/boat accessories not specifically declared and
valued for coverage.

2
What If My Goods Remain In Storage Longer Than The Period Of Time Allowed
Under The Dell Program?
Storage In Transit: The Dell program provides coverage for your goods in storage-in-transit for a period of
up to 365 days from packing date (at origin and/or destination (not self-storage units) without
additional. If you find it necessary to extend this period of coverage it is your responsibility to request the
extension from WRRG. We have provided a storage extension form for your use in this package of
documentation.

Long Term Storage: Will cover your possessions while in a controlled access professional mover’s storage
facility. This coverage is most often used to protect the possessions you choose not to take with you on
assignment. Coverage includes transit into and out of storage for a maximum of 50 miles.

What Happens If I Decide To Store My Belongings In A Self-Storage Facility Or

Location Other Than A Professional Mover’s Warehouse?
The Dell program does NOT provide protection for your goods other than in transit or while stored in the
warehouse of a professional moving company. You will need to insure the goods personally if you utilize
mini or self storage.

What Do I Do If My Goods Are Damaged During My Move?

Dell has arranged with its insurance partner, Willis Relocation Risk Group, to work directly with you toward
the settlement of your claim. Additional information regarding this service is found later in these materials.
