Goals and Objectives
This course aims to instill proficiency in Japanese by developing the oral and written communication skills necessary for successful participation in culturally
appropriate interactions with native speakers. Being proficient in Japanese means being able to do things (ACT) using the language with high accuracy.
It is more than simply knowing information (FACT) about Japanese. The class is divided according to this distinction into ACT sessions (in Japanese) and FACT
sessions (in English). In ACT sessions, you will use your Japanese in a variety of settings typically encountered by foreigners. In FACT sessions, we will discuss
grammar, other linguistic features, culture, and issues relevant to learning Japanese.
