How do I vote?
Fill out Voter Registration form AT LEAST 30 days before
the election

2. In Michigan, you can register to vote by mail and in person

3. Once your form has been processed, your city or township


clerk will issue you a MI voter identification card.

* If you're registering for the first time and submitting your


application by mail, you will be required to submit a copy of
your photo identification with the registration form*
What photo ID can I use to vote?

● Michigan driver's license or state-issued ID card


● Driver's license or state-issued ID card from a different state
● Federal or state government-issued photo identification
● U.S. passport
● Military ID with photo
● Student identification with photo from a high school or accredited
institution of higher learning (college or university)
● Tribal identification card with photo
● Signed affidavit that you do not possess a State ID

a letter of ineligibility from the Social Security
Administration

How can I vote (absentee)?
1. Download an absentee voter ballot form (available in
Spanish and large print) and fill out

2. Make sure to sign and date the application. Your


signature must appear on the application or you will not
receive an absentee voter ballot

3. Deliever the application to your cities clerk, which can be


found at this site:

Laws regarding guardianship and voting
● A guardian or another person may read and explain the ballot to the
individual, but may not vote for the individual.

● You can receive assistance but it cannot be from your employer, an


agent of the employer, an officer or agent of the voter’s union or a
candidate on the ballot

● Anyone can transport the individual to the polls or they may fill out
an absentee ballot if they are unable to attend the polls.

● Your ability to vote is typically determined by the court as part of the


guardianship hearing.
