 Calentamientos/  Graphic  Collaborative

warm up organizer assessment
 Quiz  Project
 Discussion
 Exit cards

 Calentamientos- are posted on the board at the beginning of the class of a new
unit/lesson. This is a question that will get students brainstorming; for example,
since my unit plan is about Day of the Dead the question may be what they
know of Day of the Dead. How is it similar or different to what they celebrate?
By utilizing these questions or warm ups I can target student’s prior knowledge.
 Graphic organizer -is to help the student begin to organize ideas that will be
useful during their summative assessment.
 Quiz -a simple quiz of about five questions after receiving the basics of The Day
of the Dead, this allows me to monitor if I can move on to more complex topic.
 Discussions- we will continue discussing new topics such as those of
Mesoamerican civilizations, and their ties to the Mexican holiday. Other
discussions throughout the unit allow students to ask questions and expand
their knowledge.
 Exit cards-students are to answer the question on a flashcard and turn it in to
me as they leave class. I can take a look at the responses and separate the cards
into those who seem to understand the lesson and those who need extra help.
 Collaborative assessment- the assessment consists of both short response,
vocabulary and matching, I decided to make it collaborative as in pairs of two
because of the load of information.
 Project- the project will consist in the making of an altar, this allows students to
demonstrate understanding of the culture while using their artistic skills.
