- Play video (20 min video, 30 mins total). As you’re watching, pause to record 1000
grams = 1 kilogram on the board
- Underline “gram” in the word “kilogram.” Explain the first part, “kilo,” means 1,000. Make
the connection that 1 kilometer is 1,000 meters. Connect this new information to the
previous lesson where we learned that “milli” in “milliliter” meant 1,000th of something. 1
millimeter = .001 of one meter and 1 kilometer = 1,000 meters
