World Cup Day and Sports Afternoon
What a wonderful day the children had
last week. A big thank you to Mr Ault for
the organisation. Report from Year 6:
“An enjoyable day for everyone even if
football is not your thing! The day began
with us being separated into our sport
day colours; then we got separated into
teams and were named a country:
Australia, Nigeria, Iceland, Mexico, Spain,
England, Brazil, France, Uruguay, Saudi
Arabia.
Once sorted into two sections of five, we
began the matches. The winners and
runners up from the sections played off in
the semi-finals; the teams were England,
Nigeria, Spain and Uruguay.
First to play were England, who would
have to play really well due to the fact
Spain had not lost a single game, and
Spain; it was a tough match however,
England won 1-0! A star player in this
tough match was Ben C, who scored the
goal for England, and from Spain, Darcy L
who defended the goal brilliantly, but
unfortunately England got through and
scored.”
Another wonderful day was had on
Friday last week – the children have been
telling me about how much they enjoyed
the sports activities and I know that
parents really enjoyed following the
children round the field.
Report from Year 5: “Sports day was a
fun and amazing day. The events were:
skipping, obstacle course, running,
javelin, golf, football and egg and spoon
and of course, RELAY races!

The results half-way through were: blue-
4th, green-3rd, yellow-2nd and red-1st. Then
the score after all the events except the
relay were: green-4th, blue-3rd, red-2nd
and yellow-1st
Yellow won the majority of the relays and
won overall claiming victory! Sports day
was really fun. I can't wait until next
year.”
Teaching arrangements for next year
Looking back, it was exactly a year ago
that I released similar information in the
newsletter for our current school year. I
am now in a position to confirm our
teachers for next year:
Reception: Mrs Forsyth/Mrs Molyneux
Year 1: Mrs Harvey
Year 2: Mrs Atkinson
Year 3: Miss Croft
Year 4: Mrs Evans/Mrs Handley
Year 5: Mrs Dimbylow
Year 6: Mr White
Mrs Harvey has indicated that she will
be starting her maternity leave about
half way through the Autumn Term. I am
in the process of recruiting a teacher for
this cover and will update parents as
soon as possible.
Mrs Handley has been working in Year
4 for the latter part of this year. She will
be increasing the time she will be
working with Year 4 next year.
Mrs Greenbury will continue to teach
French throughout the school. Although
we only have to provide a language to
Years 3-6, we will continue to give this
opportunity to Years 1 and 2 again this
year, as we see the positive impact it has.
Mr Ault will continue to provide sports
coaching for Years 1-6 on Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday. Mrs Tucker
will continue to teach music through the
school on the same days.
The teaching assistants will continue to
support and challenge the children in the
different classes. Although these
members of staff are ‘based’ in classes,
they are also flexible by working
throughout the school either in
classrooms or in small
groups/individuals.
I am confident that the teaching team
will continue to make a positive impact
to children as they have done so well this
year. There will be opportunities to meet
teachers at the beginning of next year
and during the year.
During the w/b 9th July, classes will be
swapping around to meet new teachers
to start the transition process. Teachers
will also be meeting over the next few
weeks to hand over all the information
about the children to ensure that all
children start the school year in
September successfully.
Gin and Quiz Night
Thank you to Mrs Forsyth and her team
of helpers for organising a great evening.
Again, parents have been telling me what
fun the evening was and that they want a
repeat of the event in the future. Just
under £800 was raised in profit – thank
you. This will be spent on new resources
for the children to support their outdoor
learning.
Outdoor Learning Days
We have had to make a couple of
changes to the days which the different
classes will be taking part in these
sessions this week and at the beginning
of July due to other events that are
happening and staffing. The following
dates will now apply (sorry for any
inconvenience):
Thursday 21st June: Reception and
Year 2
Friday 22nd June: Year 3 and Year 4
Monday 2nd July: Year 1 and Year 6
Tuesday 3rd July: Year 5
Can I remind you that children will need
to wear non-uniform which is suitable for
being outside. Please keep an eye on the
forecast and dress accordingly!

Smallworld
There will be an Open Morning on
Saturday 30th June 10.00am -11.30am for
parents who are interested in their
children (2 years old +) starting with
them. All are welcome to have a good
look round and to chat to the staff.
Dinner Money Accounts
Due to new banking restrictions we will
no longer be able to accept coins for
dinner money accounts. Please pay with
notes only. However, we would
encourage all users to pay online rather
than pay cash.
Gala Day
Thank you for all the support at Gala Day.
The PTA did a great job with the
barbeque, selling over 800 burgers and
sausages! We made a great profit of over
£1000 and this was matched by Barclays
to the tune of £850. Thank you to Mr
Loom for organising the match-funding
for our school.
I am looking at purchasing some new
computing equipment for the children
with this money as well as funds that PTA
hold. We have two sets of laptops which
the children use constantly. A number of
years ago, we purchased a class set of
iPads with PTA funds – these are still
being used, but are starting to show their
age. I am exploring the purchase of a set
of tablets to replace these.
Northwich Sings
What a lovely evening Year 5 were
involved with on Monday. They sang with
5 other Northwich schools at Memorial
Court in Northwich, telling the story of
‘Wind in the Willows’ using songs and
readings. All schools in Northwich will
take part in this event this week with
performances on four nights. It was a
great performance and lovely to see
children from around our community
coming together for such an event.
Thank you to the staff for working so
hard with the children to learn all the
words.
End of Term Assembly
Mrs Tucker would like to give some
children an opportunity to perform to an
audience and we feel that the end of
term assembly is an ideal opportunity.
We would like to invite all parents to the
end of term assembly on the last day of
term (Friday 20th July at 2.15pm). We will
celebrate the year, listen to some
performances from the children, say
goodbye to Year 6 and wish the children
well for the holiday. Please be aware that
in previous years this has been a very
popular assembly and there is often
standing room only. We will aim to open
the playground to help with car parking.
Children will then finish at the normal
time of day for the beginning of the
holidays.
PTA Summer Fair and Family Camp Over
– Saturday 7th July
This event is fast approaching and we are
very excited about all the exciting things
that will be happening. During the
afternoon, sports events will operate in
the centre of the field that will be
organised by the school staff. Parents
and children will be running various stalls
around the playground and field. There
will be a bar, fizz bar, BBQ, tea/cake shop
and lots of goodies on offer for all.
Tickets are available to purchase in
advance (slightly cheaper than on the
gate).
During the event, you will notice tents
around the side of the field in
preparation for the family camp which
will carry on after the fair has been
packed away. We respectfully ask that
you don’t allow children to play near
tents for their own safety and for the
security of the tents. Please be careful of
any guide ropes, wires, etc.
There are a few pitches still available if
you would like to join in with the Family
Camp.
Next Friday (29th) is another non-
uniform day – the PTA are asking for any
prizes/bottles/gifts that can be used for
the raffle.
Please continue to sell the raffle tickets
that have been sent home – there are
some great prizes on offer with more to
make up with your kind donations!
Well done…
…to Darcy L who has been playing for
Manchester United during the past
months. Her proud parents inform me:
“Since playing for Manchester Utd she
has played 13 games losing none, so
100% record all year against girls
opposition. They have scored 100 goals
and conceded 20. The club offered her a
new contract
back in April
which has been
accepted. She
begins back
with
Manchester
United in July
and will be part
of a new history
in Manchester
Utd, now
having a
women’s team.”
And finally…
I am looking forward to spending 3 days
with Year 6 next week as we visit
London. I won’t be writing a newsletter
next week, but will update you the
following week.
Don’t forget that we have an Open
Afternoon next Friday (29th) afternoon –
please feel free to come to school from
1.30pm. You will be met at the front door
and taken to your child’s classroom. You
are welcome to look through all their
books to celebrate all that has been
achieved this year. The school day will
finish at the normal time for the children.
