“Georgian Poetry” as a movement, or a school of poetry, is named from George V, king of England.

Five anthologies appeared in the period 1912-1922 under the name Georgian Poetry. An instant success,
yet short-lived. Of the five volumes, only the first two contain “good” poetry. Georgian poetry is
considered as neo-romantic poetry, but this neo-romanticism was very bland. The most important element
that linked them to romantic poetry was the focus on nature and country life. However, this focus was
false. There was no real emotional attachment to nature, except in the case of Hardy’s poetry.
